My Drop doesn't seem right

I have a 2.5/4 early classic drop kit on my truck. But it seems to be sitting a little higher compared to other trucks I see on the site. Maybe I'm just wanting to go lower and it is affecting my vision?

Any opinions?

Can someone give me a measurement so I can compare to mine?

It will take a little while for everything to settle.

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

Do you have leaf springs in the back? They tend to sit higher than the coil springs and may be what you are noticing.

I lowered my 68 a couple of inches in the front and for the back removed three leaf springs (I had 8). As you can see the rear is still a little higher than I like. May have to go with lowered leaf springs.

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

They are coils.
Does anyone have a measurement from their 4 inch rear drop? Rear axle hub to the bottom of the rear fender would give me an idea if I have a issue.

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

Here is mine with a 2.5 front and 4 rear drop. I have 255/60R/15 tires in the front and it measures 28.5 inches to the top of the wheel well opening. Out back I have 275/60R/15 and it measures 29.5 inches, this is with coils. Hope this helps.

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

It's entirely possible they sent you the wrong springs, wouldn't be the first time that has happened from a vendor and since they don't have a big flag on them that says 4" it would be very easy to mix up.

My 4" sat quite a bit lower in the rear, sorry no measurements.

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

Hey jackl,

I just put a 4/6 drop on my truck, but I had a 2/4 that the PO installed. My measurements were right at 30" front and rear from the ground to the bottom middle of the wheel arch. Also that was with a 255/70 tire (29").

Good luck

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

you are also probably "visually" comparing how the truck sat before the change with 40 year old springs ... the new 4" springs are based on 4" lower than new stock springs. 40 year old springs will have some collapse or "settling" from age therefore you may not get a true 4" of lowering from where it was with the old springs.

hope that makes sense ....

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

It is actually higher than it was than with my original springs that were worn out.
Can you use a lowering block on a coil spring suspension? I hate to deal with pulling out the springs. Blocks look to be cheaper.

Any suggestions?

I agree, that does look higher than normal
But you honestly probably want/need the 4/6 drop

Re: My Drop doesn't seem right

I'm gonna throw a set of blocks on it. (2 inch)
I am starting to believe I have the wrong springs from ece. But it had been several years since I bought them. I will not even attempt to pursue returning them. Mistakes happen. I will see what it looks like using the blocks and go from there.
