I agree, that last pic is a wall hanger for sure. Gorgeous truck! Think I'm developing a real liking for green trucks.

thanks you sir.i'm liking pretty well.i wasn't keen on all that white but i like it just fine now.i've had several of these trucks and most have been green?my 67 wagon is green?must've been a popular color back then.it is a sharp picture,i didn't take it and if i'd known the guy was there taking it,i would've got my rear end out of the shot and closed the hood?oh well, next time.

I went and checked. My bad, the Allison pan doesn't look like the 400 pan.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super 20 on the way home

well another little update,i walked out into the shop the other day and saw an oil slick working it's way accross the floor.i thought it might be water but no such luck, the pinion seal decided that it had enough.i guess sitting still for 25 years takes a toll.i pulled out the driveshaft deciding that i'd change all the u-joints,the tailshaft seal in the turbo 400 and the hanger bearing.on closer inspection,i discovered a groove in the pinion yoke so i installed a speedi-sleeve, the u-joints all like new although they have to be 25 years old or more but i know they were changed as 1 was in backwards so impossible to grease.i know it didn't leave the factory like that,so i ordered seals and decided on the hanger bearing too.the more i putter around this truck, the more neat things i learn,i've had a bunch of these trucks over the years and found cotter pins,in the bolts holding the hanger bearing to the frame bracket?never saw that before.i cleaned all the bolts and hardware in my tumbler and put it right back how the General built it.pretty cool.well the parts arrived, hanger bearing was wrong and i managed to bent the seal going in the trans tailshaft.another seal and the correct hanger bearing,we're back in business.if the weather holds out for tomorrow.we might just go to Masstown Friday night for the old car gathering, there won't be many more.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super 20 on the way home

another little update.i have not yet installed them but arrived today, new front brake flex hoses from Hoses Unlimited in Michigan.great looking hoses and finally after 3 pairs of hoses all too short,a set of quality hoses that i know are going to fit.the hoses with the green tie wraps on them are what turned up,supposed to fit my truck but will not.also scrounged up a pair of tilt columns from a van and an old "A" class motorhome.one of them will make it's way into my truck this winter.i was planning to put everything to bed shortly for the winter and work on making a floor for the 39 Chrysler i'm building but i think i'm changing gears here and will pull the motor and transmission from this truck so i can clean,re-seal and paint everything.it seems everytime i drive the truck i come home with a new oil leak.sitting in storage for 25 years in Idaho saved the body but i imagine every seal and gasket has dried right up.
