Possible engine swap.
I have a 69 Nova 4 door I use for DD, and need a subtle cruiser. As my engine appears to be a extra cheap rebuild from what I saw from when I had to replace the flattened cam. So longer term durability is extremely suspect.
So while I work graveyard I have been dreaming of possibilities. One intriguing possibility I found is the 2.5 LCV out of a 2015 or so Colorado with its 6 speed. The engine is also very common in cars, and cross overs. Plus it's undesirable so buy in cost appears to be very cheap. The engine is 200hp/200tq, and I would use a slightly lower effective gear ratio then what the Malibu. To account for my less favorable aerodynamics. Combined with my slightly lower weight, and wheel weight. It should be entirely adequate. How hard unsupported direct injection Chevy engines are to swap? My research says besides the harness, and cooling parts. Everything else is adaptable from LT5 swaps, and of course HP tuners. I have not ruled out the LS, L83, or LV1/3 engines. All which have more support. I just want something to be as cheap as possible to operate. While I would love a V8. I want something built in to keep me from going of kilter. Such OH wow a cam, and loud exhaust would be awesome. My C10 already fits the bill, and now I want something that is sedate. With no temptation built it. |
