When did you purchase your Truck and How much?

I purchased my 70cst with a factory 402BB, Buckets Seats, AC, Guage Package, 400 Automatic for $2400 in Aug., 2000.

When did you purchase your truck and how much.

It might be interesting to see how our trucks have gone up in value.

Re: When did you purchase your Truck and How much?

I bought mine in 1998 in West Covina, CA. after finding it in Recycler. I think I paid $3500.00. It was straight and stock, everything worked but the A/C and all that took was a belt, evacuation and charge. I drove it from there back to Albuquerque. It's still mostly stock minus the IR'd alternator, HEI and switch to R134 w/ parallel flow condenser. It does now need some body work that's another couple of stories. I drive it daily.

70 Custom 10 LWB.
All original sheet metal with the original 350/350 AT drivetrain.
It’s never been exposed to the Rust belt, and since I’ve had her, it’s never been on the roads in the winter
In 1992 I paid $2200 for her

Re: When did you purchase your Truck and How much?

When I'm in town I can't help notice the corner of the little car lot I bought this from in 1989. Right on main street, it's a postage stamp so remains a spill-over used car lot 32 years later, just a different name and that. I have the receipt someplace but it was $2800ish.

I didn't know enough about it to realize later for the most part the truck was unmolested, less the former owner's recreational desires and what turned out to be a wreck and cheap paint job. That was before I put my paws on it however, and a mechanic too, such as I'll never use this P13...............Whoops.

Didn't know it was T-boned until a dry run a year ago, they left us a mess, bent pillar and that. I'm second owner with the car lot in-between, and little doubt the poor paint job in all white came that in-between. The dealer had the tailgate someplace else, I remember picking it up from a shed & where. The tailgate was still ochre, so my truck really stood out The former owner was an old guy, I still have most of the original paperwork. He special ordered the truck off a small lot about 20 minutes from me. Dude was all things RV, in a SHORT BED??? Sure he got the 402 but.....

Boat launching hitch welded to bumper, bummer

CB I never saw but it left a mess of holes.

Brake controller

Camper mirrors

Saddle tanks - I thought it was cool to have those doors chromed Should have seen my mirror selection, yikes!

Fifth wheel brackets welded to frame, neat. Yeah that bed was toast and so much for cool chrome entry doors. Found a replacement bed and front bumper 5 minutes from me 10-12 years ago, that was a good day.

Step bumper with receiver hitch. Wish I never got rid of it. Almost forgot, he ordered his SWB with leaf springs No finding rear bumper brackets.

Here's what it looked like soon before I took it apart. Note all the holes in the door for various mirrors Think that's bad, shame they didn't replace the RH door when it was wrecked, at the time a door ran $25-40 locally.

Free. Inherited from FiL. He bought it in '73 to pull a travel trailer, and that's how it's going to stay, with exactly the right equipment. We've had it since 2012.

Re: When did you purchase your Truck and How much?

My '72 K20 was a fresh trade-in at a Chevy dealer in 1977. Hadn't even been detailed yet. Factory A/C, power steering, twin Travel Tanks, clean & straight and ~50K miles. I think I paid $3300 for it.

It had new highway tires which I immediately traded for Armstrong Norseman (iirc) traction tires, 7.50-16 LR-D.

I'm guessing it didn't look like the photo when you bought it in 2007. If so, I hope you had the guy hold his hands up when you robbed him!

I paid $6700 for mine in 2012 - too many improvements and upgrades to list - would be hard pressed to sell it.

Re: When did you purchase your Truck and How much?

I bought my '71 K10 LWB in summer of '85. Rough, had been rode hard and put away wet many times when I bought it for $1500. Plain Jane Custom /10, 4 speed, 4WD, gauges and AM radio was about it. Also came with a '72 3/4 ton beater than I turned into my trash/wood/gravel hauling trailer. Over the years replaced both outer fenders, inner fenders, both doors, hood, bed and tailgate. All original GM sheet metal scrounged from the local 'yards. Probably have half dozen or more trucks in the lineage here, LOL. I bought NOS rockers, aftermarket body bushings, new leaf springs front and rear Only thing original to the truck is the cab and running gear. Told you it was rough when I bought it, LOL.

Thru the years, I have added original '71 tow hooks, am/fm truck radio, tilt column, factory tach, bumper guards, 4 row radiator, freshened the 350, Edelbrock 625 CFM carb and Edelbrock intake, dual exhaust, 31-10.50-15s on rallys, custom 40/20/40 seat. Currently insured at $18,000 and am thinking I need to up that to $25,000 maybe? Swapped in a 350TH when Arthur got bad in my knees, just couldn't give up driving the truck after all these years.

Re: When did you purchase your Truck and How much?

Bought mine in Octiober 2014 from a Craigslst Ad. I wanted an original unhacked/unmolested truck with factory working A/C and was pretty much open to year, color etc. Found this one in South Dakota and me and a buddy drove the 900 miles one way to Brookings South Dakota in a day to get it and drove her home to Canada the next day without a hitch. A board member that lived in Brookings ( 71SWB4x4 ) knew of the truck and when I posted on here that I had bought the truck he knew of it and offered to take it to the local repair shop for a checkup before I picked it up for the home trip. It need a couple of small things and they found a screw in a tire so patched that up as well. I paiid 9800.00US for the truck which for me by the time I got it home with the trip cost and conversion rates and taxes I was in it for 12,500.00 CDN.. I have spent lots on it since but was very surprised when I had my staled value insurance appraisal done in October 2019 and it came up at 32,500CDN which was about 25kUS at that time.

11k for my 71 Sierra Grande in 2013.
Lost count on what I've put into it since then, but only done upgrades for amenities, ride and reliability.

Re: When did you purchase your Truck and How much?

Wife paid $2,000 for mine in May of 2019. I've kept a spreadsheet on what I've spent on it so far so it's a multiple of that now. Getting close to road ready but it's a project that keeps me busy in my spare time. I've totally done all the steering and suspension, lowered it 2.5/4, and installed power disc brakes. Working on getting the bed in primer now.

It had not ran in about 12 or 13 years when I got it and I've since gotten it running, converted to HEI ignition and just a general clean up under the hood.
