Daggo'ed or Moonshot

Back in the years when I was a young guy headed for town to hang out on the streets with other guys and their cars ,,We all would be in town "Draggin The Gut" as we used to say in the 1960ies and we had cars that were either raised in the front or lowered in the rear or lowered front and rear.
Lowered in the rear was called "Moonshot"Lowered in the front was called "Daggo'ed All the different up to date things done to our cars came from us by way of mostly California and Daggo'ed we figured was started in San Diego.. Red painted Rims -

Disk Hub Caps --,Knock off fake Hub Caps- Louvered hoods --lots more,,some of you might remembered or heard of what the fads were back then couple photos of the turn around at Seaside Oregon ,,which at one time was the very end of the old Highway 30 which crossed the United states

Oregon passed a law back then about how low one could lower a car.,, and one place that brings back memories is this Turn Around at Seaside Oregon ;If the city cops seen a car having to back up a few times to straighten out their car to get around the turn around it was because it was lowered so low that the tires would rub the fenders when cranking the steering wheel ,,

then the cop would lay a pack of cigarettes down under the side of the car between the front fender and the back and if would not slide under ,,then fine was given and also an escort out of town to driver and car. I do not remember if the cigarette pack was on its side or edge..??

Re: Daggo'ed or Moonshot

Only thing I remember about Oregon's lowering law was no part of the undercarriage could touch the pavement if you got a flat tire. One of the kids in my high school had a cop measure underneath his car and compare it to the height of the front tire. Can't remember if he got a ticket or not.

I vaguely remember hearing about the Seaside Riots in the early Sixties. Were you around there then?

Yes ,, not as one of the drunk crazies ,, just 3/4 drunk observer The streets were jam packed ..no traffic could come and go to the turn around and the beach must of had over 10,,000 guys and girls partying it up and fighting anyone and every one..
I survive but a buddy of mine got couple of his front teethe knocked loose

I never heard of any of this. But I'm just a young buck . Those terms may have been local. I know that riot was, but I've heard of that!

Sounds like the parties I went to but bigger.

I remember my buddy getting in a fight and he was wearing shirt that he borrowed from me. It got all ripped up and had blood on it. It was ruined.

I really liked that shirt.

Oh yeah!! Louie Louie. That was the Kingsmen's big hit. Didn't it get banned or something because no one could understand the lyrics and they thought they were saying something dirty? I seem to remember that.

It was a great song. It's been covered many times by many bands. But to this day I still don't know the lyrics. Maybe it is something dirty?

Re: Daggo'ed or Moonshot

Ive never heard of either expression used like the examples. I know what a Dago axle is and where it came from, just never heard it used as a "look" Ive only heard something has a dropped axle. Same with moon shoot. My mom used to ask us if we wanted a free trip to the moon lol, but that's a close as it got. Ive only heard the term tail dragger.
