Re: Wiring Harness Options (Classic Update Kit)

I have an AAW harness for my 72 in hand. Note that the hole in the firewall had to be enlarged. Not a big deal for me, but this does not seem to be mentioned before purchase. The harness to the tail lights was included with the kit I have.

When my brother worked at a restoration shop they would charge between 20-40 hours to rewire a car, like a mustang or Camaro. It's a lot of work, and a lot wires to run right and look good. A truck would still be in the 20+ range. Could you possibly do it in a day, maybe, but there's a lot of assembly and disassembly to run the wiring correctly and not do a hack job, which at the end of the day most of us are doing a rewire to get rid of all the p/o's hack job wiring anyways.

Re: Wiring Harness Options (Classic Update Kit)

Any updates to best wiring kit options? I see these are from late 2021 so figured I would ask as technology changes daily. My OEM wiring is fine but thought I would ask just in case.

I purchased the AAW classic kit, and considering I knew nothing about wiring, it was easy to install. It will work for any set-up you got going on, IMO.

I would do it again if I had to.

Good luck!

Re: Wiring Harness Options (Classic Update Kit)

It took me a long time to install the harness.
"they would charge between 20-40 hours to rewire a car."
I would consider this a quick install, with experience and the correct tools.
Hiding and positioning the wires took the longest.
Don't forget to install your dash pad first as it will be difficult to get to the bolts to install it with the wiring installed.
