Can anyone I.D. this wire? Is it a ground from the ignition? I pulled my old choke wire out yesterday now I don’t have any juice to the starter. 3 steps forward and 2 steps back.

That is a ground wire, but not for the starter. The starter is grounded by being bolted to the engine.

It's connected to the wiper base so it's there to make the wipers work or the ignition ? start chasing wires before the previous owners fixes burn up your truck.

I’m thinking ignition. But I’ve got to figure out where it came off.

Neither the HEI nor points type ignition require a ground wire.. The ground path for both is through the body and engine "iron".. The ground path for the wiper motor windings is provided by the wiper switch itself.. The wipers won't operate unless the switch is grounded.. In any case, that wire is not factory installed, what's on the other end of it??.. Go to the ELECTRICAL forum on this site and down load the proper wiring diagrams for your truck.. As Grumpy said -- trace those wires before you set something on fire...

Is it brown? If so it might have come from the ignition switch. The brown wire at the ignition switch is the acc feed wire.

Looks silver. Most of my wiring is in excellent shape. I pulled the old choke cable out yesterday to move it over to fit my Holley (right side choke) better and found the truck had nothing happening when I turned the ignition switch.Figured I might have loosened something up moving the choke. That was the only wire I found under the dash that was loose. Attached like a ground on the one end and nothing on the other. Might have been a ground for some old accessory. There’s a few old screw holes at the bottom of the dash.
Reason I asked if anyone knew right off ,because I was on my back under the dash with no way of researching. Thanks for the reply’s.

Doesn't the wiper need grounded because of being on rubber isolators? Maybe something to do with the park feature?

It has a Ground tab.

I've seen some trucks that have the black ground wire from the gauge cluster connector clipped to the choke cable instead of to the metal dash. I saw that recently on a '67 in a wrecking yard. Looked stock to me. Even if you disconnected the gauge cluster ground when you moved your choke, it shouldn't have anything to do with your starter not working. Have you checked your neutral safety switch? The fat purple wire from your ignition switch passes through the neutral safety switch on its way to the starter solenoid.
