57 Cooling

Will be running around 700HP big block. I have a 3 row rad.

What are you guys running for electric fan/shroud set up? What kind of amps is it pulling?

I see several 1600 cfm fan set ups doing a simple search, but that seems low to me.

Re: 57 Cooling

Spal are right at the top of the top rated aftermarket fans out there. https://www.spalusa.com/

You can snoop their catalog for the size and then the cfm that comes closest to suiting your needs. I found out a couple of years ago that all Spal fans of a certain size are not created equal cfm wise.

Their highest rated 16 inch isn't the one you would think it would be https://www.spalusa.com/products/fan...2ffans%2f16%2f

if a guy is looking for something lower buck a Ford Tarus fan is really popular with a lot of guys. Some say that they pull 2400 but there are no exact numbers.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: 57 Cooling

That's a beast of a fan. A bit on the spendy side from Ebay used fan sellers though. A search says 08/18 with a number of models.

Cool, Those rigs never seem to hit the local U Pick or they have already pulled some of the prime parts off and have them stashed in the warehouse. Screwballs around here will smash a hundred dollar tail light to pocket the bulbs without taking things apart to get to the bulbs though.

Re: 57 Cooling

I use the 16" Spal fan and it works well on my truck, but I don't have a big block. Spal says it flows about 2000CFM Its kinda noisy though - sounds like a vacuum cleaner when it clicks on.

I made a fiberglass fan shroud for it out of an old tee-shirt that I stretched over a wooden form that I coated with resin - similar to the way some folks used to make custom speaker enclosures. Once I had the shroud shape out of the form, I put several layers of mat and resin inside to give it some strength and bond in the mounting plate for the fan. There's about 1" clearance from the shroud to the radiator at the edges and the Spal fan sits about 2.5" off the radiator - wanted the fan to pull air across the entire face of the radiator.

There's some pics at post 102 https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=725080&page=5
