Wiring halo turn signals, delete bumper signals

I have had some halo LED lights hooked up for a while now. I am converting to a front roll pan so I am wanting to use the built in turn signals in my halos now instead of the bumper turn signals. There is just one yellow wire coming out of the headlights for “turn signals”. The problem I am having is that the blinker bulbs in the housing in the bumper are the ground….without them the blinker circuit doesn’t work correctly. Is there a way to ground this before and only output one wire so that I can connect it to the halos? Or how would anyone consider wiring this? Thanks for any help

Not fully understanding the info here. Year of truck and type of headlight would be useful.
The factory turn/running light harness should have two wires. Both are +12v one is for turn and the other for running light. Ground is through the housing. Use a meter and check from each wire to ground. The one that pulses on and off is your turn. The other wire should be hot when running lights are on. If your new headlight only has one wire to the indicator it most likely is possible to wire in relays to make it blink when running lights are on. Otherwise you will just have turn and no running light.

Re: Wiring halo turn signals, delete bumper signals

It’s a 1972 c10 with the lights in the bumper originally. Yes they ground through the housing normally. Since the LED headlights only have a ground wire and are plastic and don’t touch the body I assume this is the problem with using the built in blinker on the headlights. The headlight circuit uses the ground wire so there isn’t a ground to the body for the blinker in this configuration.

I would make the assumption that "the blinker" in your headlights is grounded through the same point as the headlamp element. So you should just be able to hook the yellow wire to the turn wire. If the yellow wire needs to go to ground you can add a relay. Yellow wire to n/o on relay then common to ground. On the coil side hook one terminal to turn wire and other to ground. Adding one more relay on each side would add marker capability. Wiring is a little more complex but not bad.

Will draw up a diagram for you if you like.

Re: Wiring halo turn signals, delete bumper signals

Richard,
In an effort to gain more help I have a question about my new bumper light turn signal wiring. The led's in the bumper currently only have a wire for the blinker and a wire for ground. I took the wire for the blinker (from led) and put a spade connector on the end and slipped it in to the prong of the connector that used to connect to the bumper lights (the light blue wire). And then I just ground the black wire.

I am still getting no turn signals where my previous bumper lights use to work.

Is it even possible to use just the light blue turn signal wire and not the parking lamp wire as well?

To add to the confusion I don't have the brown wire hooked up at all and my parking lamps come on if i pull the knob out.

Very confused

Thanks

As a test reverse the two wires from the bumper light. Led's are polarity sensitive. Nothing will short or blow up. If the black wire is attached to bumper fuse will blow and obviously will not work.
