47-59 What are these called?

Can anyone advise what these types of electrical connectors are called? I believe this one came out of my 56 Chevy wagon, and it will snap onto a post (possibly like the ones at the back of the gauges). They are shaped like a little hairpin and if I can find them they might be the perfect solution to reusing some S10 gauges.

I used the female end of these butt connectors and they seemed to hold. (with a little pressure from some pliers)

I think the problem with my set up was not using the PCM.

Try here also the 90 degree one fits on gauge studs.I looked for that same end for months . Look up automotive unusual wire ends.

I think what you are looking for are just below the green push in clip wire holder.

This type of stuff has always been challenging to find. What it's called is a terminal. Seems silly, but if it's a gm designed and made part they use names like "Terminal, instrument cluster, volt gauge" to describe it. Locating these terminals usually requires one of two methods. 1) open the parts catalog and look up the item by application. 2) open the standard parts catalog and locate the item by visually matching it to illustrations.

Please check out http://www.gmpartswiki.com/getpage?pageid=121305 . It *looks* like what you have is similar to 2962650. There may be differences such as the gauge wire the terminal is designed for although I'm not seeing that.

This is the 1990 parts history catalog which shows 2962650 as discontinued.

So, you may end up looking for old harness bits in order to find this connector.

Thanks guys, I was hoping that I had just been stupid while searching for them on the internet. It seems they really are rare little devils.

Tempest67: Its funny you suggest that cuz on my 56 Chevy wagon we did something similar. I found that if I hit the male end of a bullet connector with a die grinder to remove the end, it would slip firmly onto those studs. I did play around with other connectors on the S10 gauges without luck. I can always reuse the S10 connectors (not elegant, but functional).

1project2many: That’s an awesome resource for hunting down parts, and yes it does look like part 2962650. I had hoped that I was simply not using the correct search phrases, and that these were a common connector. That is clearly not the case, so I will come up with a home made solution.

I have been thinking about these connectors all day. I realized the terminals may have been used on the back side of power window switches through the '80s. A few searches located an easily purchased replacement connector PT546 / 12125634.

Further searching lead to this page:
