Yes we used license plates to patch old speaker holes. i also covered that with kilmat.

pulled the motor and trans. and now we are caught up!

Plan to replace control arms, power wash and paint the frame. Been getting parts in the mail for the ls.

Re: 1981_c10 Step-Side

Picked up my wheels from the sand blaster. These will be painted to match the truck. These are 15x8 and i have two 15x10 for the rear. Going to have six wheels for this truck so i can change out the backs if i ever need to for a spare or what not.

having trouble with the picture...

Re: 1981_c10 Step-Side

It's looking good. Fairly labor intensive, but worth the effort.

New windows in the house the the 81 got to see some day light for a few hours. Also polished up my k5 wheels and my new c-notch came in. hoping to install the c-notch in the next few weeks. the truck doesnt need it now with the current drop....but while i have the bed floor out going to add it anyway for when we go lower.

Re: 1981_c10 Step-Side

Next, I wanted to be able to safely take my new son in the k5. So i welded up some brackets (first time welding) to mount some 2000 tahoe seats in the k5. i dont love the ones i have but they were keep. Will either put the original seats back in (i have them) or find some tan leather ones that are newer model. i like the shoulder belt int he back.

Re: 1981_c10 Step-Side

Steering column needed some work. the plastic part that the gear shift indicator mounts to broke. a clip snapped off. instead of taking the column apart to replace (even though i bought the part) i glued it together. works great! got it reinstalled and should work fine. i did installed with my steering whee upside down on accident...another thing to address hah

Also started wiring my new AC system.

Good job on the seat!
If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it looks like one of my seats! I love the CarmineRed, I have only done one in the past.

Wow, your truck is coming together beautifully. I'm so very glad that your family was okay after that drunk driver incident. I like your K5 too. Glad to see all of the updates,

thanks! More updates to come.

I started cleaning up the trans for the swap this weekend. The inside casting of the bell housing had lots of cracks. Any thought son casting cracks or something i shouldnt be worried about? from a 2005 silverado.
