Just a suggestion, to keep your cost down, get some seats from a donor truck. Here's a nice set.

thanks! For the suggestion i can't find any good seats near me so I've giving up on used saets plus the truck is going to see 9k miles a year so I think finding someone to fix then is best route.

This seat sold before I even got it done. It will be going out to Wyoming, when it's completed. I'll post actual photos of the seat when I get it finished up this weekend.

Yes they will fit. Right now the only seats I have available, are with new foam. These are $900. If I get more seats where I can use the original foam, the seats $750.

Re: Bench Seat, Having it Reupholstered

Working on a few seats, sandblasting the frames and tracks. Unfortunately the 69 seat, the seat frame completely rusted through. I was able to salvage the tracks at least.

Working on an 81-87 seat, it will be a black vinyl deluxe with a new foam.

Also working on the 74 seat, it will be in saddle vinyl.

So a am I, lol. All I'm waiting on now is the end support springs. USA1 Industries only had 3 in stock, and it takes 6 total, 3 on each end. I got the tracks and frame sandblasted and those are ready for paint. Also got those stainless steel pieces on the side there by the hinges all polished up.

These are the springs and this is just a generic photo of what it should look like. The seat also has the hinge covers, not sure if I'll paint them in saddle or black.

Can this style work on a 75 C10 seat? LMC shows this style for 81-87 but can you make it work? I'm still not 100% on the difference on the styles from 73-80 and 81-87. Let me know. Thanks

I assume you mean the cover itself? The foam sizes are just a hair different from 73-80 to 81-87. So the "STYLE" is correct for the model year. The Deluxe Style came out on the 81-87. Now what can be done, is to put a 81-87 bench seat with that deluxe cover, in to your 75. All the seats will fit from 73-87 onto the truck cab floor.

I have a good seat with good foam. I just wanted this style (81-87) cover installed and wanted to know if it would work. The stitch pattern looks nicer to me than what is offered for the 73-80 seats...in my opinion. Any idea if the cover will fit without much hassle (understanding that the foam is slightly different)? Just looking for advise for someone with a lot of knowledge on these seats. I don't want to buy something that doesn't work. Thanks

No it won't fit. The seat bottom frame and foam are longer, I'm almost 100%. Give me some time and I'll actually try it out. I have a cover for a 73-80, that hasn't been installed onto a seat yet. I'll attempt to put it on a 81-87 frame and foam and see what happens. And then Monday I will have a 81-87 cover, and then I'll do the same, try to put it on a 73-80 frame and foam. And then I'll will post back with the results. That way, anyone with the same question will know.

But you do have another option, take your seat to an upholstery shop and have them custom make you a cover like the Deluxe style. It will be more costly. And if you don't care about your cover being model year specific, then this might be your only choice.

The 2 pics I'm attaching are the styles for the 73-80. Of course there are different color variations, and then if its all vinyl or vinyl/velour combo.

Re: Bench Seat, Having it Reupholstered

Yep, the 73-80 seats are longer, by about 2 1/2" on the seat bottom. The upper is a tad taller than the 81-87.

I kind of figured that out, because I mainly get 81-87 seats from the salvage yards to restore, and the first time I picked up a 73-80 seat from somewhere, I couldn't get the tailgate to shut on the truck. I just have a 5ft bed on my Colorado. I can actually get the 81-87 seat in my 2001 CRV too, but again, not the 73-80 seats. When I get a bunch of seats at one time, I usually use the trailer.

Re: Bench Seat, Having it Reupholstered

I was afraid you was going to say that. My upholstery guy said that is too much to make work. Guess I will have to order a cover that I don't care for too much. Oh well. Thanks for the info!!!
