Help With Brakes

Was driving and there was a sudden burst of air that came through the vents, then the brakes went really weak. I had to push them all the way down before i got pressure and then had to gently work them at that point to not skid the rear tires. Stayed like that for the rest of my drive home. Power steering works just fine, no issues

Any help on what to look for? only thing I've ever done with brakes is change them, so i'm lost as far as where to start. I checked the hose running from the PA and it looks to be in good shape

Re: Help With Brakes

1st things, make sure you have ample fluid in the reservoir, make sure you have vacumn at the booster. Bleed the brakes a little to verify you have fluid at all four corners.

It actually sounds like a master issue to me.

Re: Help With Brakes

Sounds like a bad booster.. You usually hear some kind of vacuum leak.

Re: Help With Brakes

It sounds to me like the diaphram in the booster ruptured. Time for a new brake booster.

Re: Help With Brakes

Sorry for the very late response.. wife's car was having problems so this went on the back burner.
So the booster is the issue. I was told by the previous owner he didn't think it was stock and these years didn't include them, but I found some conflicting information online.. did these come stock? if so does this look like a stock unit or after market.. And anything in particular i need to look for when replacing it? I know its a dual bowl MC so are there different kinds of boosters in regards to this?

Re: Help With Brakes

Dual MC were not available on these years. Looks like someone put a 67-70 booster & MC
