Oscar sounds like a He77 of a hound.I have been thru this several times(I currently have 3,5.6,7,9 and 11 Of the Yorkies I've had over the last 12 years). If you search "Rainbow Bridgge" there is a whole website devoted to helping people who have had the same loss.I pray it helps you and yours as much as it has helped me.

Re: I lost my best friend yesterday

damn it man.. I feel your pain....

I have something to cheer you up a bit.

"How do you prove who a mans best friend is?? Lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of you car for an hour, and when you open the trunk, see who is happiest to see you....."

Sorry for your loss man...

Re: I lost my best friend yesterday

Thanks again guys (and girls)! It's starting to get a little better. We're not constantly crying anymore. I threw myself into my work to help take my mind off of things for a while. Now I have to leave to go offshore in the morning for a few days. I hope Brandi (my wife) and Ratchet keep their chins up while I am gone.

I am constantly amazed by our little community we have here. The people that I work with offered their condolences because they saw how much it affected me, but none of them are actually "dog people," so they don't really understand why I'm taking it so bad. I posted here, just to tell a little bit of Oscar's story because I felt it was worth telling, and I get an outpouring of sympathy and similar experiences. I am glad that we all seem to see eye to eye on matters other than just classic trucks. I am glad to have you as friends.

Thank You.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.....

I don't know what I will do when my best friend moves on! I almost got choked up reading your story and knowing how you feel. Some people say "it's just a dog" and I ask them to think about how the feel about their family and thats how I feel about my buddy!

Man, cry it out... thats one of those times where its expected for a man to cry. WHen i was 18 or so, my dog of 13 years died. I cried off and on for 2 weeks... Once i went lookin for him and i thought he got out, and it hit me again he was gone....

Keep your head up man, and there is NOTHING wrong with picking up another best friend ya know.... give it some time.

Re: I lost my best friend yesterday

Sorry for your loss, we lost Meggy out mutt we picked up years ago from pnumonia about two years ago. We found Lilly a pit mix walking out on the highway about a year and half ago, she got tagged by a Rattler on 8/2/08. I thought we were going to lose another one, but made a 2 hr drive in just over an hour (don't ask) and the $1100 vet bill was worth every cent, she is home and sporting a cool rattlesnake bite scar on her nose and lip. I have had a few good friends come and go over the years. It doesn't get any easier over the years, but I know I am blessed to have them in my life for the time I did. RIP Oscar.

BTW I too am amazed at how we seem to be cut from the same cloth on this board a lot. Must be the traits that define us?!
