Re: Rarest factory paint combos

Was it this off white (526) that was used on the two toned trucks both Chev and GMC 64-66?

Re: Rarest factory paint combos

Yes, 526 was the roof color for two tone coded trucks. 521 white was available as a solid body color only. Also note that the bumpers, grille (if not stainless), grille surround, trim insert, and hub caps (if not bright) were all off-white also - unless the truck was solid 521 white, in which case all of the above areas were also 521 white. Tailgate letters were off-white 526 except on a 521 or 526 (solid) truck, in which case the letters were black.

I solved the mystery of the rare paint color Seamist Jade Metallic that I am planning on painting my truck after staring at the tailgate I picked up ages ago as a replacement for my original. I found a touch paint place online that has an incredible catalog of paint codes. It cost about $35 including shipping which was well worth the cost. Here's what I got. I had this heater top that was primered a medium gray. The lighter pics are in direct sunlight and the others are off to angles. I think it will look great on my truck.

Do you still have this swatch book?
Is there a color in there called oriental green? Any info on it?

In 1957 and 1958 there was a color called Oriental Green (Color Code 703) that was used on Chevy trucks. It was also listed as a GM color. Not sure what else might have been painted with that color. The info I looked at has no mention of GMC at all. Hope this helps.

I’ve been curious for a while about the paint color on the truck on this 1967 GMC brochure. Can you help me figure it out?

It looks similar to the paint on this Chevy too.
