Sacrilegious f**d message board?

I know I am risking being thrown of this sight but. My boss is going to give me a 76 f**d Ranger XLT. My question is, does anyone know of a good message board like this one for f**d trucks? This is not the truck

My dad used to have a black one exactly like this one except it had white spoke wheels that were kinda the norm back in the late 70's. It could be a cool truck.

My wifes family is a f**d family...my family were always Chevy people...like the Hatfields and McCoys. I do like some of the early F1 trucks...but don't tell anyone!

Re: Sacrilegious f**d message board?

.

When I was 17, I had a choice...68 C10 stepper or a 5th gen F-Series. Both trucks were fine but the slant nose chevy got the win for lots of reasons.

It was the first vehicle of my own aside from a motorcycle ( street bike ) I started riding at 16. The other reasons....well let's just say I've never owned a ford.

I have no brand loyalty whatsoever. I own a Porsche and a Packard. Big difference between the two. It makes no difference to me.

It's like asking. Do you like blondes or brunettes?
The answer: Yes.

...Unless they're ugly.

Get the Ford if it's cool. Cool is cool no matter what brand. Just my flea bitten opinion.

But keep in mind that other message boards are not as good as this one. I'm on a bunch of them and some of them really kind of suck.

Yeah. That's kind of hard to turn down.

Too bad it's a 76 and not a 75. You wouldn't have to deal with the smog Nazi's.

I have no brand loyalty either...In my driveway, there is my 65 Chevy, 64 GMC, and 2 Porsches. I like what I like...and enjoy driving them all for different reasons. I know we will own a Ford truck oneday...my wife tells me that all the time. LOL

That's a cool old truck right there. Back in 1987 (senior year of high school), a friend had a tan/cream color one like that. It had been repainted and had nice pipes & pretty chrome wheels & white letter tires on it. It was a BAD looking F100. I think his was a '64 or '65.
This one is close, but this one is a little more yellowish than my friend's was.

Nothing wrong with a a Ford truck. My son has a 70F250 camper special, 360 big block,4speed. It is an a really fun reliable truck. I’ve heard people complain about the front suspension on them but I like how it drives, rough as **** like a truck is supposed to.

And I have not found any site that is as user friendly as this one. This is the only site that I have looked at for the Ford trucks.

The only thing I've heard about the twin I beam suspension is that it is a serious pain to lower the truck. Just what I heard. I've never tried it. Never owned one.

One of these has always been on my bucket list. Along with the 454 SS that I missed out on. Still looking for a deal. Kind of, sort of.

...
I think back in the day they were considered more stable with a top-heavy camper than the GM A-frames. Definitely a longer arc to the wheel travel, but of course the camber changes as it goes up and down (for better or worse).

I do know that if you got a rock stuck between the I-beams, or worse high centered and bent one of them, that you would have a terrible noise when the beams scissored past each other

My old logging buddy had a couple of early 1970s half tons back in the 1980s. One he had bought new and wore it completely out, and then found another one that was a little better to drive for several more years. It seems like there was always something going wrong with them, but that could be just from hard use and minimal maintenance. At the same time our 71 Chevy just kept purring along, but then we had a little camper on it and used it as a going to town truck. I had the big GMC and later also the short stepside for work trucks.

The forum for these year trucks.https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum38/ The twin I bean uses king pins, what is found in heavy duty commercial vehicles. Ball joints are found in car type suspensions. Fords generally had better overall quality, especially in fit and finish and stronger hoods and doors in the 70's.

Re: Sacrilegious f**d message board?

I was looking into how to lower the twin I beam suspension and the only thing I could find is drop I beams. It looks like they kick up on the ends where they connect to the ball joints. I would not to lower it vary much. I would like to use this as an actual truck. I always end up with the difficult suspension types. I have a 62 that used to have the torsion bars.

Im with Paul. Not loyal to any brand, I like what I like. Plenty of Chevy's I dont care for.
My old Ford mutt. Ford body, Chevy engine and seat, Volare front suspension. My son driving away after I gave it to him. Dad I love this truck and will never sell it ... maybe 6 months later he sold it ... blah! haha!

Re: Sacrilegious f**d message board?

I always like those unibody trucks. There was an old guy around that had one sitting in a carport covered in dust by where I grew up. But he wouldn't sell it.

It was a baby blue short bed and had the cool big back window like in the picture.

I really wanted that truck.
