What would happen if you just cut you coil springs to drop your truck can some one help me please

You can only do this to your front coils. What happens is you get a stiffer ride, just like with the ones you can buy. The trick is figuring out how to cut them so you get the drop you want. Its not a 1:1 ratio.

So you can not cut the back coils and if you cant what is the easiest way to drop the rear

if you just want a couple inch drop, you can make some blocks, if its more than a couple inches you have to buy springs. You could heat them, but you will absolutely destroy the ride. The springs on the rear have pig tails on each end. So you cant cut away from that.

i got my rear springs till they are on the frame rails...................but im in the younger crew so i can put up w/ the ride.............................im waiting on the funds to get bagged too so ..........u make ur decsion

You could cut the rears but it would be more trouble than it's worth. In the past when we were poor(and drop springs weren't readily available) we would fab a short cup the outside dia of the spring and sandwich it between the bottom of the frame rail & the top of the spring. The depth of the cup was around 3/4" or so, just enough so the spring wouldn't be able to move around. If you look under GM A/G body cars the rear springs aren't bolted in @ the top so this works but like cutting the fronts it's hard to control the springrate vs amount of drop. You are better off using lowering blocks + shorter aftermarket coils w/proven springrates IMO.

Lowering springs are only about $100.00-120.00 a set.I would spend the $$$ and keep the ride because it would be safer and keep you from going to far to use the originals.

Keep in mind, if you go over 2 inches with a spring only drop, (either cutting or purchasing) you will start to get bump steer from bad geomitry angles.
