Alternator swap question

Hello,I have alt #1102455 in my 72 now wired to the regulator.
I have what I think is an internal regulator alt #1102860 on a shelf.
I am not sure if the one I have is a one wire alt or not.
If it is I will swap and rewire.
Could someone confirm what I have is what I think it is
Thanks. K.E.N.

Re: Alternator swap question

A Google search indicates part number 1102860 is a 10SI alternator

Re: Alternator swap question

Your alternator is a 10DN and the one you want to put on it is a !0 SI, which can be either a standard internally regulated stock alternator or a one-wire type.
Put it on and wire just the large terminal on the back to a main positive terminal, and check it out for voltage output (14.5 ). You May have to rev the engine up to 1,000 to get it to charge and if it won't it will have to be wired as explained in my FAQs in the electrical home page.
The best way to go about this is to take it to an Autozone and have them check it to see if it's working and if it's a one-wire or a three wire alternator.

Thanks, Autozone is who told me it is still good but I don't know if it was 1 wire or not, they checked it in the back. I will check when I change it.
