Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

I only have one. Get my C30 on the road, and if I don't love it send it down the road and move on to the next one. Avoid (try real hard, *snort*) thinking or fiddling about with any other truck project until that's done.

I already broke me eating resolution, those never last anyway lol.

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

Get my truck running and registered then take my junk to a few shows this season. It would be nice to take it to the C10 Nationals and get to meet some more members

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

I really need to swap the motor in my K20, it’s old and tired. My dilemma is that the 6.0 I’ve been planning for it ended up needing a full rebuild. If I’m gonna rebuild it, I’m putting the stuff in it I want, not a factory spec rebuild, which equals a good chunk of change. I’ve got another 350 I can throw at it for but I really don’t want to do it twice if I don’t have to. We’ll see.

Those tires have been on there for a few years now, I'll be sure to burn them off this year.

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

Seems I keep finding things I want to add to the truck and just ordered some things - might as well be a New Year resolution!

1. Install Courtesy Light Harness for under the dash from Classic Parts
2. Install Vent Shades on the doors from Classic Parts
3. Install TriPlus Chrome Tailgate Handle from AMD.

But basically, just have fun with my truck overall. Which I have started off good with my parts order above!

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

Started the restoration on my son's C10, as my first rebuild project. 3 days in, I've got the front clip and bed off. Next up, motor and interior pulled.

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

The big one for me this year is getting the new small block together and installed in the truck. Also I have multiple add-on parts I've had for years and would like to get them installed on the truck.

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

Mine is to be on the road by the three year mark a the end of May. Gotta get inner fenders back in, heater rebuilt and back in, seat belts and floor mat. Take it for an exhaust install and windshield. It won’t be painted but it will be rolling.

Other Larry swears to me that un painted and running/driving is the best way to have them, that way they aren’t so nice that you are afraid to drive them. I should really take his advice but I want to paint mine pretty bad.

I now have my Dad's '70 CST/10. Very similar to yours.

We traded... he took my '06 K2500 with a 6.0L (silver truck in background), and I got his '70. Been my dream since I was a little kid to own this truck. He's had it since 1974.

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

Another dark olive 70, in my case the Custom/10 I inherited. I have all sorts of things I want to do, but plan on taking it slowly so I can spend more time driving/enjoying it, than working on it.

But need to swap out doors, do some minor body repairs, add the vintage air and finish the interior refresh. Most though, Drive!

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

Get my K20 out of paint prison and put it to work again. We're nearly 3 months into the 4th year, not that anyone's counting. There are times I wish I had ignored the rust spots and crappy paint, at least it ran well and everything was in good working order. The woodshed inventory is lower than I can remember it ever being. Winter storms have provided lots of firewood.... just need to go get it.

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

To get my truck into the new shop, and start finishing it.
Things on the to do list are:
Take the original wood out of the bed.
Disassemble the bed floor
Take the bed off the frame
Media Blast and prep the inside and underside of the box
Blast, prep, prime and paint the inside of the bed.
Pull the bed off to access the back of the cab an front of the box, for prep and paint.
And the list goes on.
But first I have to finally get my shop put up, as soon as the bad weather breaks

Re: Any truck resolutions for the New Year?

After sitting in my back yard for several years, I hope to get my 71 C20 back on the road. I've washed it, cleaned it out, fixed the drivers door latch and am in the process of removing the Dana 60 for a rebuild. I also have to rebuild the trans and redo the whole brake system. The motor turns over by hand, so hopefully it won't take much to get it running. If it would only quit snowing and warm up a bit so I can get back out there!
