Phil my friend with a Cameo didn’t and had to replace the booster later because the fuel vapor wreaked the rubber in the booster.

Definitely something to look into!

could this filter be mounted at the intake manifold instead of on the fire wall and work properly?

The p.b. Filter should be mounted vertically with the straight inlet at the bottom and be higher then the top of the carb . The higher the better.

Good location would be just below the firewall seam or if you’re going for a shaved firewall mount it inside the firewall. Just be sure that the vacuum line has a down hill slope to the manifold. The line going to the p.b. Booster can be a hard line with short vacuum hose to the booster.

Be sure to use power brake vacuum hose , it’s thicker and fuel vapor safe and won’t collapse.
