Turn Signal - Brake Light Problem

Guys, I installed one of those new CPP tilt steering columns from LMC Truck into my 1970 C10. Installation went good, and everything works as it should except 1 thing. When I push the brake pedal, the right front parking lamp illuminates (and right turn signal indicator in dash illuminates). The new CPP column plugs right into the truck harness, and all wire colors line up as they should. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this? My stock steering column did not do this so I suspect something isn't right with the new CPP column, or I broke something else unrelated during installation. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I wonder if a couple of wires are swapped up inside the turn signal switch.

When you press the brake pedal, do the brake lights turn on too?

What happens when you turn on the right turn signal?

Re: Turn Signal - Brake Light Problem

I have a cpp column and it was the biggest P.O.S. I have ever seen. Turn to the left and the horn would blow. Use the tilt and it was the 4th of July Sparks every where . I pulled it apart and wires hanging lose , screws rolling around what a mess. So I went to the junkyard and pulled a harness and made it work like it should. NEVER will buy cpp products again.

Re: Turn Signal - Brake Light Problem

CPP tilt steering column has a terrible reputation for failing inside the tilt knuckle
when it fails you will either loose all steering or if you're lucky just become very sloppy
google it or maybe someone can post up a link to the testing thread
i'd recommend oem, ididit or flaming river columns

as for your electrical issue, if you have the wiring correct, i suspect a bad turn switch

Don't get a Flaming River. I just had one of their column smoke the wiring in my truck because it was assembled wrong. When I called them, they gave me an attitude basically stating I plugged in the wire wrong. They put a screw that holds the turn signal switch in place through the wiring harness which caused a direct ground when you turned on the left turn signal. Burnt the wiring in the new column all the way into the harness. Get an Ididit.
