Leftovers...Chili dog incident all over again

Some may remember I ate some chili dogs that had been left in the car for a couple days. That was a bad idea. It didn't go well.

Well now my wife went to lunch at a very nice restaurant and brought home some clam chowder. She said it was the best ever. And it was. It was delicious.

Now I don't know how long she had left it in the car. But she was gone for a while because they went shopping after lunch.

Needless to say the clams didn't like me. They didn't like me at all. I was running sprints to the toilet all day.

I am giving up on eating leftovers. I don't think I can survive much more of them.

Yeah my big dumb dog was in my way. He won't move and I was yelling "GET OUT OF MY WAY!!!

You'd be surprised just how fast you can drop your drawers when you have to.

The worst part is that it really was the best clam chowder I've ever had.

If she brought it home again...I'd eat it.

No kidding. That would have been a problem.

I don't know when my cast iron stomach rusted out. I used to be able to eat anything. Good, bad, or ugly.

Your love of left overs is so well known, Soft Cell cut a record about you many years ago called "Tainted Love".

Yeah, I believe your cast iron lining is worn out. Some years ago I knew of a tool truck owner who ate at a local diner from the food bar with his friends. He was found a few hours later dead on the side of the road. C O D, food poisoning. Be careful man.

I obviously don't worry about food poisoning. I worry about my ex wife. She's crazy and I'm defiantly in her gun sights. I stay far away from her. It's a survival instinct. She doesn't like me. I'll take diarrhea over her any day.

Your continually eating left overs , Does your wife not feed you ? Do you not know your way around a kitchen ? bad hot dogs , Taco bell drive thru , Now left over clam chowder ? it's called a doggie bag for a reason , Most of the food served at restaurants today I wouldn't feed to my dog .

What can I say? I'm a bottom feeder. It's all good to me.

I'm a very good cook and so is my wife but that doesn't stop me from eating junk.

Re: Leftovers...Chili dog incident all over again

Personally, I can see no sense in throwing away food just because it's left over. Wasting food is a major no-no in my book. I never get sick from eating leftovers, same as eating it the first time. There are good common sense practices to follow with food to avoid getting sick. I cook my meals from fresh ingredients. If I eat at a restaurant it better be better than I could cook for what it costs. The name doggy bag comes from bringing the steak bone home for the dog to gnaw on. They say for Thanksgiving food safety three hours is the longest food should be left out.

I've heard the same about potato salad.

Re: Leftovers...Chili dog incident all over again

Well, we have potato salad for Thanksgiving.

When it comes to seafood I tighten it up on the freshness. It just doesn't keep like land meat. Figure at the grocery store they reduce meats 30% for quick sale and seafood is always 50% off. There's a reason for that. They jack the cost of seafood up more!

It wasn't a week. Just a little too long.

Seafood, especially shellfish is nothing to mess with. The fresher the better.

I love lobster but I haven't eaten it in over a year because I got a bad one and it made me sick. That completely turned me off to it and it was one of my favorite things. My surf and turf is just turf now.

When I was young I got some funky milk and didn't drink milk for years. Even now I don't like it unless it's chocolate milk or poured on some sugary cereal. I haven't had a glass of straight regular milk since about 1975. It grosses me out.

I have a friend that is the same way with cheese. He WILL NOT eat anything with cheese. We all would all go out for beer and pizza and he would get a salad and it wasn't a lactose intolerance thing or anything like that. He just hated cheese.

Me too. I put double cheese on everything. No cholesterol problems here and I only weigh 145 pounds. So it doesn't seem to affect my weight. I wouldn't mind putting on a few pounds. I'm too thin for 6 ft. tall but I can't gain weight.

My friends used to razz me and call me string bean because I am tall and skinny. It's odd because I come from a family of chubby people. Fat people with diabetes. I've got none of that and I eat garbage.

Re: Leftovers...Chili dog incident all over again

For my older son's HS graduation party we ordered 10 or 20# of pork barbeque from a place in NC. They sent it by mail with dry ice. Pretty unbelievable. I never considered that could be done. That was some goooood BBQ, too!! And no one got sick.

I still have a hard time eating raw oysters. I know many can't or won't, but I could and I loved them. Then at a raw bar where my brother-in-law's band was playing I ordered some up. I had a few, then bit into one and it tasted like poop!. We got the waitress over and told her. she asked what it tasted like. "I told you. It tasted like poop. I mean it literally tasted how poop smells". She apologized and offered to bring me out more... "NO THANKS!!" I don't know if they were spoiled or if they caught them at a sewage pipe. But not appealing for sure.
