Pulling engine and trans from a van?

Just bought 2 Chevy 30 series vans with camper bodies. Going to junk them snd was wondering if I can pull the motor and transmission together or will I have to do motor out the front and trans out the bottom?

Re: Pulling engine and trans from a van?

Bolted together they will come out the front. Back in the 70s when I worked at the dealer we had a lift that would support the eng and trans for them do drop out the bottom as an assy. .. Had to pull the distributor, air cleaner and carb. remove the engine mount cups bolted to the block and the fan blade. I think that was it. I had a van for a few years myself and did an engine swap and took it out the pass door after removing the cyl heads, it was tight but it came out. I didn't feel like removing the front of the van and discharging the AC

Re: Pulling engine and trans from a van?

I've done it both by dropping it out the bottom and going through the front. If you're junking the van, you could do what I did on the last one I pulled... I removed the hood and used my Sawzall and a demolition blade to cut a large opening through the cowl. It was the easiest engine removal I've ever done in a van.

Yes, junking them so not too worried about banging them up! Thanks for the help.
