burning wood pellets in regular wood stove ?

Anyone try burning wood pellets in there wood stove, I,ve tried a big tin coffee can with holes drilled in it and works not bad but if you try to add more pellet's it goes out. Haven,t see too much on u-tube. Just trying to save my wood for when it gets colder. Stove is in the basement and just use it for a couple hours when I,m downstairs. I don,t think I will have enough wood for the winter and electricity is $$$$$

I haven't tried that, but from what I understand of how pellet stoves work the key would be feeding the fire gradually.

I don't know for sure because I've never done it. But I have heard it's a big no no.

I put wood in my wood stove and pellets in my pellet stove. I don't rock the boat.

But I do burn evidence in both.

Get more wood, it doesn't sound like a good idea...

My thoughts are that the pellets do not have enough void or space to allow proper oxygen needed to reach proper combustion/temperature, that's why pellet stoves feed gradually/controlled and have a blower fan to enhance the combustion.

Just me thinking out loud.

This.

They were designed around the fuel as a whole concept. Along with its delivery.

I got a a couple of bags at a yard sale someone was cleaning out there garage, and used then while camping. Yes they would burn, but they were not the best.

I could get effective action in my Hibachi grille, but in a pit they left somethings on the plate.

So depending on how your heater is set up. Results will vary.

Other then less then optimal performance. Nothing bad will happen.
