88-98 3500 front clip question
Hey fellas i know it's a bit of a silly question but on some of the 88-98 3500 trucks back in the day some of them like tow trucks car haulers and such had a bit of a different looking front clip with a breather panel between the grille and the bumper. My question is in order for this to happen was the bumper moved down a bit or was the grille shortened a bit? I'm a bit confused.. here's a picture of both front clips...

Re: 88-98 3500 front clip question
These are the 3500HD frames and actually is completely different from your traditional c3500. The chassis designator is GMT-455 and not the common GMT-400.

Re: 88-98 3500 front clip question
The 3500HD was a light medium duty/heavy light duty. As Evrlet mentioned, different chassis. A straight rail chassis which puts the cab sitting higher and the panel is the spacer. Dodge did the same thing with their 61-71 D/W 300s

It was a great old truck that you could drive anywhere and bulldoze logs out of the way with the front end. But the steering was loose and the state finally took it back and gave us something newer. (I think the F-550 V-10)
