1968 gmc 2500 v 6
Hello all
I just signed up and need your help and guidance on a new project. I am not a car or truck guy "YET" but I have started learning . I have a year ago picked up a 1977 GMC Jimmy that I am building into a monster E.M.P. Vehicle ( silly I know) but that is not what I'm here for. The latest is a 1968 GMC Custom Camper, 2500 V 6 standard trans., and it is as far as I know all original and beautiful. It's been sitting in the New Mexico sun for a long long time and has held up nicely, paid 750 for it. I'm just getting started and hope I can get your input and wisdom. I don't know what to ask yet and was hoping you all would just start helping the new kid. |

Nice truck you have there. Welcome. It looks like it might be that coral pink color that GMC had. That's a pretty rare color and cool if it is.
I'd fix it up and get it drive able. Don't be in such a hurry to swap out that v6. It's basically a big block v6 with a ton of torque. It won't win any drag races but adds to the cool factor a lot. Keep it, Drive it, Work it, love it and let it speak to you. Work on it as your budget allows.

Thanks for the input , yesterday I installed battery, changed all fluids and she spoke!
Drove it for a short spell will look for markings on engine and tranny to see what's inside. The vin broke down by LMC didn't give me much |

Do you have anything listed on the inside of your glove box? There should be an option list. I don't know as much about the 68 GMC's but willing to bet that Engine and Transmission are original.

Looks like the original motor to me and it is the optional 351.

Pretty neat. I have the 67. 305 V6, half of their 50's V12.. column shift, power nothing!
