1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

Finally found another great project. This ones a keeper. Its a 1967 chevy c10 pickup custom with big back window option. I picked it up from a guy locally for 1300.00 with a good title. The box is totally rust free. Its so nice and straight. It came with alot of extra parts too. Its body bushings are off so it sits funny in the photos. But here it is.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

I freshened up a 400 sbc 2 bolt for it. Its got a new cam, lifters, intake, carb, ram horns, timing chain, msd ignition, trick flow valve covers, ect, some parts not in photos. And of course all new gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, ect.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

It already has the 5 lug disc swap front and back. It came with a stock power brake booster. I picked up the boss 338 grey with polished lip. The fronts didnt fit so they are sending me 1/4in spacers. The rear fit fine. Anyone know if 255-50-20s will work without alot of mods? I already have a spare set thats why I ask. Thanks. Pic is from their website.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

I took the bed off and the doors. I plan to take the front clip off in one piece tomorrow. And lift the cab off the frame. That way I have really easy access to drop that 400 sbc in and the rebuilt th400 that came with the truck with less than 400 miles on it.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

Looks like the truck has been a few different colors in its life. Just have some ralleys on there till the truck is mostly put together. Then ill mount up the 20s. Well maybe ill put them on and stare for awhile every so often.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

So guys, i dont say this very often but help me spend some money. I just need ideas on what kind of things to buy to make it a runner. I tend to overlook some things sometimes. I dont have a huge budget, but the engine, trans, exhaust are covered. Now what else can you guys think of. Just want to mount the cab and be able to pull it in and out of the garage.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

I got a lot more done on the 400 sbc engine. Put on the once piece oil pan gasket, the timing chain cover and gasket, the intake, and set the valve covers on for a good idea of what itll look like. Tom night the msd distributer not shown will go in. The distrib wires will go on. And I will set the rockers for now. Pretty happy with the out look. Also sprayed off the turbo 400 trans, that should go in truck tomorrow as well.

Thanks im very happy with it. The cab has had some pannels repaired pretty poorly. Will need to be redone. Once i get the engine and trans in and get the cam broke in. Ill focus on the body.

I got the engine put together. The msd ingition is in and timing set. The valve lash is set. I just need a few more things and then ill mount the accessories. I'll probibly put the engine in the truck first. Anyways looks pretty good. Time to order the carb.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

I got the engine trans hooked together and got it in the truck. Its just sitting on the mounts. The trans mount didnt fit, so ordering a new one. So its just sorta in there, but looks good and makes me smile.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

Got the engine and trans hooked up, got it dropped in the truck. Garage floor looks like crap from spilled trans fluid, but thats my fault. The pictures make me forget all about it.

Love your truck! Truck of the years pretty awesome... What do you recomend if I wanted to one step paint my frame. Epoxy primer?? Or what do you think? Powder coating in my area is very expensive in my opinion. Called around today with quotes around 700 for the frame.

So am i correct in assuming i dont need a primer coat. Its headed back mid next week from the sandblaster and i need my ducks in a row. Id prefer to just shoot one color, weather thats a matte black primer or just a base coat if thats possible without a primer coat. Some guys say that tractor supply company has tough paints, but again i know nothing about paint, so im leaning on you guys for advise.

Good question, I've always wondered about primer with powder coating.

Re: 1967 C10 SWB Fleetside Project

Frame is being blasted as we speak, the paint is in town in the fedex delivery truck. Should be a fun weekend, of ripping the frame all apart cleaning and blowing off some sand and spraying paint hopefully by Sunday! Pics to follow
