Re: My Facetruck thread.

Me either, but I remember when Stingray bikes came out. One guy I knew pulled his bike into a wheelie and rode it home like that. He was at least 1/2 mile from school.

I remember those wheelie bars. I remember thinking they were for sissies and cheaters who couldn't ride a wheelie

I built a wheelie bar back in the day. I didn’t like it, made it too easy- not fun

I don't think they were into a wheelie bar in my young days riding bikes.. post up a photo for me if you will ,,I will take a look at a wheelie bar ..and just see if I member ever seeing one..

as for me I had a 26 inch bike with a 20 inch front tire and for a while had a old car steering instead of handle bars ..

I don't remember them either.

I just remember flipping the handlebars up on my Schwinn Varsity 10 speed to ride wheelies on it. That was common at the time.

And before the wheelie days it was sticking that Bobby Orr hockey card in the spokes with the clothes pin.

That name sounds familiar. Was he famous? I don't follow sports. We used to use playing cards, and our parents were always asking where the cards went.

I meant to say something about everyone in bare feet. Growing up in the pre-safety era was fun... with a few stitches or maybe a cast or two . I remember when we were teens comparing how many stitches or how many bones we broke. Kids today are so deprived

Remember the sky high sissy bars? Probably the reason they invented the wheelie bar. lean back against that sissy bar and you were poppin' wheelies real easy

Here's a bike that has it all!

Bobby Orr , one of the greatest hockey players.
If I had the hockey cards today with some of the top players back then that went into the spokes I would make some decent $$$$ on them.

I got this one in the shed. It's similar to the one I had when I was delivering newspapers. It has a slick on the back.

Wow! I forgot about the V-rooom thing. I got one of those for my birthday and immediately removed the close pins and baseball cards from my spokes.

A Raleigh Chopper. I wanted one so bad as a kid. And those handlebars are definitely aftermarket. The Chopper came with ape hanger type bars.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I made my owner Sting Ray/chopper bike out of a '40s-'50s 20 incher someone gave us. I never should have changed it but I wanted a cool chopper, and it needed parts. I gave it a gold base with candy apple green metal flake lacquer job. I went through a few banana seats but ended up with a Schwinn white metal flake. It was like one of these, black & white

I was a little older when I got my first shiny new bike. It was a Sears with 24" wheels. It was purple and the tires were redwalls. It was a stick shift 5spd with dual rear brakes (no front). Cool bike! I switched to a Schwinn seat on that, too.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

My first shiny bike was a Murray Eliminator. It was next to the Christmas tree when I woke up xmas morning. I didn't pay much attention to it because I thought it was for one of my brothers. I couldn't believe it when I found out it was mine.

I rode that bike into the ground and finally cracked the frame.

Baddass bike! I remember those and all the muscle bikes. We sure had cool bikes offered back then.

Gotta be cool like Evil, right?

That is exactly how I cracked that frame.

We were jumping fools back in those days.

No helmets. Nothing like that. But I did get a couple of nut crushers.
