48 Window lift bar screws

I'm looking for a picture of the 4 screws that hold the lift bar to the window channel.

Then I'll be looking for the 16 total screws to do both windows on the 48 and the 54.

Thanks.

If memory servers they are just 1/4-20. I used shallow (like 1/2" or 3/4" in length) SS button heads. Being button heads, they don't interfere with the roller wheels. Taper head screws would probably work too. I just had some button head SS bolts around so I used them. I used the same bolts on my last two builds with no issue.

Re: 48 Window lift bar screws

Thanks Marc, I tried some button heads, but the heads are too big to go in the channel. I may take a drill and belt sander and reduce the heads to make them work.

It's been awhile but I think I used something like these:

They have several different styles and you can see the head diameter on each of the part drawings.

Re: 48 Window lift bar screws

i seriously dont know why those window channel screws are so over-engineered. 4 fine thread 1/4-20 for a compression fit? most I had to drill out because they would rust on and the clutch head would strip.

on a couple I would just use self tapping pan head because the threads were so boogered. unless rolling the window down (there is no force on the screws rolling up) caused all 4 screws to shear you'd be in tall cotton.

Re: 48 Window lift bar screws

Thanks for all the help.

I used 1/4" x 20 x 1/2" button heads on the window I'm working on and they work great. They stick to the Allen wrench pretty well to stab them into the holes to start them.

Same reasons why I used them on my last (2) builds.

Re: 48 Window lift bar screws

Yep, after you told me that, I went to the bold bin and found some. Thanks for the advice.
