Have you found any chalk on your firewall, engine rocker covers, hood or fenders?

My ‘86 suburban has 83 written everywhere. Firewall, frame, behind bumpers, under dash pad.

Firewall and fender. I used to laugh at the car restoration chalk mark guys. But when I clean up my engine bay, I will take pains to preserve it. I doubt I will ever be a concourse resto guy, but I have come to appreciate singularities that occurred at the factory.

I can't remember, I'd have to look. Keith Seymour talks about that somewhere and there was no particular rhyme or reason - I guess on the assembly line guys were allowed to make whatever notations help them do their work. I've even seen the paint color written on the firewall.

My 1989 1500 4 x 4 Suburban, 6.2 diesel has the numbers " 968" written vertically on the drivers side firewall of the engine compartment. 9 at the top, 8 at the bottom.
