Re: New guy from BAMA

Hey looseScrews,
Good to know someone is close. I am somewhat apprehensive about posting pics. There are soooo many beautiful trucks around here. Even when it is finished, mine will still be un-refined, and will never see a coat of gloss paint. If you are still interested, be glad to post em' for ya.

Re: New guy from BAMA

Heck! Don't be shy! Look what son is working with:

Looks like this as of last night:

That is son removing the windshield....he's 13 and it's "his sexy truck"...yea, RIGHT !!!

And here is a quick shot of his OTHER '67 project:

It's a 1967 Boston Whaler 13' Classic Sport. It's going to the liner today and we'll get it back next week. Rub rail will be added and new 30 hp motor. Ready for the reds!

Son is lucky to have so many '67's around!! (I'm a '67, too)!

I believe Shane is from Monkey-town as well as onetonK5. Both are SUPER nice guys who have put up with my ramblings. You'll see 'em post from time to time. And give us a holler! We'll meet at Fantails when the projects get done!

Re: New guy from BAMA

Good deal,
I thought the fantail had closed. man that is some good eatin'. Every time I have been there to eat, I had to be carried out in a wheel barrow.

I will have to see about posting pics in the next few days. Don't look like the weather is going to cooperate with me this weekend. Soon as I get mine done it will be "Tire Roastin' Time Again"

Re: New guy from BAMA

It may have closed! Haven't been there in a few years! But when we did go, we wouldn't eat lunch! We'd be MISERABLE when we headed home!

If it's closed, how about Igor's in Monkey-town? They have the BEST crab claws of anyone around! We'd go on Sunday afternoon when they had their appetizers 1/2 off. Husband and I would get two each and the son (10 at the time) would get the 1/2 dozen oyster appetizer (he'd get a full dozen). I said I wouldn't know what to do with him when he turned 16 as much as he likes raw oysters.

See! That's not bad at ALL!! At least you have something to start with! I'm about to deplete the kid's truck account to order rockers, floor panels, cab corners, etc!

(And that chick in the 3rd pic looks like me....standing with hands on the hips!)

Re: New guy from BAMA

That is my sis-in-law.....(TUFF-CHICK)

The good thing about it is my max limit. 3000 dollars is all I get to spend on it period... (good thing the motor is already built) That is why you see me recovering the seat with a pop-up canopy cover and doing the stitchwork myself. My brother made a smt.az. remark about me doing the sewing. I told him "Unlike you paying someone, I can do it myself and save that money for something more important".......LOLOLOL.......
He looked like I just slapped him.....

Re: New guy from BAMA

Drew's account had $2500 starting out. That's what he got for the El Camino. After that's gone, he's got to earn the rest of the $$$. I told him I'd meet him dollar for dollar since it's tough for a 13 year old to find a job. (We live in the woods and there are no yards to mow around us). He'll work in his dad's cabinet shop this summer to earn the $$$ for the truck. I figure it'll make him appreciate it more since he's working FOR it and ON it. He wants a nice daily driver and his dad is figuring $15000 for the budget. They way they are talking, it'll be a show truck and run about $30000!!!

Re: New guy from BAMA

Thanks for the response everyone. I busted my tail this weekend, disassembled the whole truck (for the most part and painted it) I shot it with a top coat, single stage paint (flatner added) and I'm not sure if it was a lack of painting ability on my part or the use of a cheap top feed spray gun, but the end result looks like a matte black finish. (man I love it) I will post pics hopefully tommorrow. I also accented the door panels and grill.

Now all I need to do is get the wood to finish the bed. (that might be a headache)
