New Radiator

Has anybody used one of these?
They say it's a direct drop in for our trucks and it has the Tranny coolier to.

By the looks of it, I would say its used?

Brass and copper for me.

That looks quite square at the welds to drop in without some serious modification to the factory mounts. I just installed an Engineered Cooling Products (ebay) unit and had to remove most of the rubber from the stock mounts and clearance the brackets with a grinder to make it fit.

Thanks for the info but my 71 isn't no where near stock. I have a cover to hold it in up top and the bottom I can mod to work.
Just want to know if it's a good product. Going to be using dual fans also.

that bottom hose location doesn't havev the factory angle built in . i'd think that radiator might have a clearance problem with the front crossmember

for the price i'd much rather stick to a stock over the counter ones available at my local parts house instead of a mailorder one

Thanks but that want effect mine since I have the LS motor installed. I don't think. I have a O-Reilly one in it now and it's leaking. The tanks are coming a part again. I've had it fixed once already. I was just thinking the aluminum radiator would be a better one, who knows for sure but it being all welded seems to be a good start. The bottom outlet does curve up so I think it OK.

Where did you get those rad radiator hoses?

I'm pretty sure that's exactly the same as one that I bought off ebay.
Dropped straight in, has the correct angle on the bottom outlet and hasn't caused any problems, so far. I bought it just to get the C10 on the road until I make a "good quality" aluminium one myself, but so far, it can stay!

I'm using the same one, bolts right in with factory mounts and all, everything hooked up correctly. I'm running mine with Derale dual electric fans and it keeps my motor nice and cool, even with the air on.

Adam I was at a swap meet and there was a booth selling what appears to be the same radiator. I got one and so far I really like it. It has the 2 large "cores" that the coolant really pours thru. It did fit well and seems to be better than my old original.

That link above is the same radiator I am using. The hoses I found on Ebay, they were the only preformed silicone hoses that I could find for our application. They were cheap too, so I figured I would give them a shot. I did not expect much but they fit perfect and so far (a couple of weeks) are holding up. If you buy them do not use the clamps that come with them, make sure to use hose clamps designed for soft hose(McMaster).

I ordered the radiator it should be here next week sometime. I already have dual fans and I have a aluminum shroud already but haven't cut the holes yet for the fans. I'm going to wait and get everything together before I cut anything.

I would recommend a zinc anode to prevent the aluminum from corroding. You can get one that replaces the drain petcock and it will keep your radiator from corroding. I wouldn't buy the more expensive flex-a-lite ones, just get a generic one. Here is a flex-a-lite eBay listing so you can read why it is important. flex-a-lite zinc annode

I look forward to hearing what you think of this radiator once it is delivered. I'll be wanting to replace mine eventually but not for a while as my truck is still at the paint shop. Turns out the floor pans were worse than we thought so I just ordered new pans, then the metal cutting and welding can begin!

My new radiator showed up today. 3 days earlier than tracking showed!
I'm going to flush it out good tomorrow and start draining the one in the truck.
I'll swap all the fittings and polish it up before installing.
It showed up right before I left for work but it looked great but will look it over good tomorrow. So far I'm impressed with the look of it!

I have the same one for a year now. I dint have the money for a good radiator and I couldn't bring myself to put in a plastic radiator so I got one of these. Hasn't leaked yet and of course it cools my 250!

Good deal! I'm going to have the daul fans with the shroud I had made about a year ago for the old one but when I noticed it leaking I kept putting it off. I will install the shroud and fans both now and hope it last for a long time.
This thing should be even better at cooling than the old one. At least I hope so any way.
This is the one in the truck now. Not the greates picture but you can see the fans and old radiator.





I'm also going to swap the relay's out for some of these I think! You can get them in about any amp size you want. I'm thinking it should let the fans run cooler and they should last longer and take the amp draw off the wiring also.

I just replaced the cap that came on mine, because it wasn't holding pressure. Just keep an eye on yours. I replaced it and all is well.

I think you'll really like it. I just completed a 600+ mile trip in the Texas sun last weekend, and the temp stayed rock solid on 185.
