Remote lock for 96?

I recently got a 96 K1500 with power door locks that work fine with the buttons on the inside arm rests. I was told by the PO who was not the original owner that it came with remotes to unlock the doors, but I didn't get them. When I search on EBay for remotes for a 96 Chevy truck I get lots of hits but when I read the ad they all indicate that they are for 97 and up. I haven't found one that says it works for a 96 model truck. My question is, did 96 trucks with power locks come with remotes? I used a vin decoder online that gives the factory options on my truck and it does mention power locks but doesn't mention remotes.
