New to this site

Hey All! I just registered to this site. Never tried the "Forum" thing before. Still trying to learn how to use it. I want to post a question. Am I in the right place to do that?

Just saw your reply and the pic of your primer truck. That's what mine looks like as well. Although I have two different shades of primer on mine

Transmission Question

I guess I'll start asking away. Is there a difference between a TH400 in a car vs. a truck?
Is the same tranny in both vehicles, or did GM make two different TH400's; one for the car application and one for the truck application?

Welcome to the forum. One thing you will hear often on this sight is show us some pictures of what you are working on. The knowledge of these trucks on this site is deep. Good luck on your truck.

Welcome. It depends on what the question is about. This would be the place for general questions about 67-72 Chevy and GMC trucks. There are other subforums for for other years and also for things like engines, paint, etc. No one will get upset if you post in the wrong place, but your post might get moved to the right place.

Re: New to this site

Welcome, first piece of advice, try the search bar. Not trying to be rude, if I didnt say it somebody else would have.

No all TH400's are not the same. They do all have the same gear ratio but TH400s from longbeds and Suburban's have a bolt on yoke for use with a 2 piece drive shaft.

You are gonna like this site, it is the Bible for our trucks.

I don't know the answer to your question, but there's a member by the name of Clinebarger who knows everything there is to know about transmissions. He'll probably chime in soon.

On that note...I tried uploading some of my truck pics and it won't let me. It keeps saying upload failed. I guess my pic file sizes are too big. I will have to take some with a smaller resolution size.

Re: New to this site

I thought something was fishy. I have a two piece drive shaft with a slip-on yoke. Let me tell you a little history about this truck. The previous owner had a 72 Chevelle with the SBC350 and a TH400 and swapped it for the BBC402 & TH400 that was in my truck. After digging around more into my truck I realized he really did a number on this truck and barely installed it with all of the bolts. I'm so glad I have begun restoring it. Found a BBC402 for the truck. Took out the tranny to find out it is a slip on yoke. May have to change that.

Hi Yuccales,
How do I post a pic on this site. I can't seem to get a profile pic uploaded to save my life. It keeps telling me that the upload file failed. When I want to load a pic into my messages, it asks for a URL for the pic. I don't have a URL because my pics are on my computer. I'm usually pretty good with technology...I think I'm missing something.

If you reply under the advance settings you can attach pics with the little paper clip. I usually upload one at a time. When I tried 5 at once, the upload always failed.

Then you are definitely one up on me! I go to "Additional Options", hit "Manage Attachments", "Upload File from your Computer", hit Browse, hit upload. As jessemthompson said, I also down load one pic at a time. Seems to work better for me. You will get it!
