Triple duece

Anyone running a triple duece carb on small block 350? In process of rebuild and getting stroker kit to 383.

Re: Triple duece

My dad had one a few years back which I went through to dial in the linkage. So I am familiar with them, but not up on all there symptoms.

The 383 is a better motor for multiple carbs due to stronger vacuum on the carbs vs a equal 350.

The outer carbs need to be the proper models as they "seal" when not in use. They are the most important ones end of story. If they don't "seal" you will have problems with everything.

The center carb feeds your engine to 1/3 throttle roughly before the outer open. Dependent on what we're calling a motor here.

Progressive linkage is for tuning like vacuum secondaries with a spring. Like a when, and how much based on throttle input. First 1/3rd of the throttle is normal. Then your camming over 2 more carbs fast. So the enginr gets a bit jumpy if you will. Since you basically get a big shot of fuel when you loose the progressive nature as 2 more carbs come online. Kind of like the Q-jet Wah-WWWAAAHHH.

Your distributor is really important because you want timing on point with a decent bit of initial not the 8*, and all in as fast as your combo will handle. Other wise bog city. Think running a 850dp on a stock 350.

Lastly ignore everything I said if it gives you doubts, and do it. They look awesome.

Give member Elliot949 a shout thru a PM. He has a really great looking '67 Chevy pickup with a three deuce set up on it. Really catches your eye at a car/truck show. The one and only pickup I have ever seen with a 3x2 set up. Love the look. See that set up now and then on tri-fives and 30s coupes but Dan has the only pickup I know of with a three deuce set up. Not sure what engine he is running with it but I'm sure he can give you some great info.

Re: Triple duece

3 ducks, makes a pretty show......But I will bet that the proper sized 4 brl will show you more power IMHO, it is about what you want.....maybe you like the cruiser, for the show? Me, I would rather stick a double pump Holley on & tune it. Just my thoughts, but it is your truck longhorn

Re: Triple duece

I have built up several 3-2 setups. The last one I had I ran on a 56 pickup with a Goodwrench 350 engine. It ran well. They look good at the shows & cruise nights.

Re: Triple duece

I had 3 on a 340 hp 327 in a 57 vette. It had vacuum linkage on the front rear carbs. Center carb had vacuum switch which opened the front and rear at almost wo throttle from a vacuum tank buried under finder. Worked great.

As stated it had front and rear carbs with rubber ringed throttle plates.
