BLUEPRINT Engines - thoughts comments - Fully dressed LS

Would like some comments/ experience with BLUEPRINT ENGINES

I already have a PSI - LS3 harness and will be running a 6L80e trans with 208 case - I will send the harness back to PSI for setup with the BLUEPRINT parameters.

Considering running one of these two in my K5 build

376 CI - LS3 - 6.2L - 530HP, 495FTLB

https://blueprintengines.com/product...-psls3760ctfkb

or

408CI - LS3 - 6.0L - 585HP, 540FTLB

Re: BLUEPRINT Engines - thoughts comments - Fully dressed LS

What is your planned usage for the truck? Any power adders, etc? I have a blueprint 427 small block and it has been doing great for me. My brother installed quite a few when he was working at a hot rod shop as well. The ls stuff is stout from the factory too, the forged stuff in the 408 is sweet, but if you're not going to be running the piss out of it or adding a power adder it's a little over kill. The warranty with a crate is sweet, have you looked at some of the other builders, Texas Speed, Thompson motors to name a few?

No future power adders - 500hp or more is enough

Street driven, cruiser that's all...… drive 2-3 times a week 30 - 40 miles

I have one of their 400 SBCs. I love it and would recommend them without hesitation. I know this is an LS, but just giving my opinion.

Re: BLUEPRINT Engines - thoughts comments - Fully dressed LS

After looking at the specs on both I would want forged pistons on the LS3 at that price level. On the 408 the cam has a fair amount of duration. I would ask Blue Print what is the idle vacuum if you are planning running stock type power brakes.

Idle Vacuum is (InHg) 9.5'' at 950 RPM

What is the minimum to run a power brake booster?

16-18 inches according to the net..but I think the size of the booster plays into it as well...
Personally, I'd use hydroboost...I love mine

Re: BLUEPRINT Engines - thoughts comments - Fully dressed LS

At 9.5" of vacuum your power brakes won't work. Don't try to band-aid it with a vacuum cannister. Been there done that. You could use a electric vacuum pump. With your some what heavy rig I would spend the money for a hydro-boost as said above.
I've done a couple hydro-boosts on my hot rods. Bought them from Hydra Tech as a complete kit. Others go junk yard diving and build their own. If you have rear drums you need to check and see if a hydro boost will work. I had discs all the way around on my projects.

Hydroboost works great with rear drums..as long as you have a disc/drum master and prop valve, it's good to go..

A standard truck LS pump will work with hydroboost, some of them came with it. The set ups you have linked to don't use typical LS pumps though, but as long as you order the one for it, it will work.

Further down on the page in the application notes for engine there is something that says "Compatible with Hydroboost ($275 option)" Not sure what that consists of. But evidently they are aware of hydroboost.

There may be internal differences, but on mine the only diff I could see was the extra return port

Re: BLUEPRINT Engines - thoughts comments - Fully dressed LS

My hydro boost swaps one 67 Nova and I used a stock "ham can" power steering pump. On my 66 Mustang hydro boost swap I used a KRC pump.
Before you buy a power steering pump I really would call Hydra tech and see what they say would be the best. I have no interest in Hydra tech other than then they gave me great tech advice.
