Re: Stamping on my 350

If VC is the suffix code stamped on the pad of the block up front/left side, I don't see that listed. Maybe it's a replacement block?

Re: Stamping on my 350

If that's definitely a V, the two digit codes that started with V were:

VB - '69 C/10 & C/20 350 4bbl manual trans 255hp
VR - '69 C/10 & C/20 350 4bbl manual trans 3spd 255hp
VS - '69 K/20 350 4bbl manual trans 3spd 255hp

Is there any other stampings on the front pad? A suffix code, be definition, will come at the end of the stamped code. For example, T02I4IT, where IT is the suffix code. Anything stamped at the start of the code is a prefix code. The VC 199800 doesn't tell us anything other than it may be the partial VIN that was stamped on the block starting in '72. The VIN stamping should be in 1/8" tall characters while the engine code will be in 3/16" tall characters.

In addition to the codes Special-K listed there is also VJZ: 1972 350, 175hp, 4BBL, Manual trans, Truck application; and VP: 1969 350, 215hp, 2bbl, manual trans, L-65 RPO, C/50 truck application
