Thermostats/ Electric fan Questions

My 350 crate has a 195 F thermostat, a big SPAL fan and a 195-210F switch. Seems like always right at 195 and fan is always on when running. Would a lower (180F) thermostat change this?

How do you have your fan(s) wired.
Automatically pm when the engine is running, or temp based.
I have dual Ford windsor fans 1 fan turns on at 190 and off at 180
the other I run to a toggle switch for heavy towing, bumper to bumper traffic of those extreme hot days

My truck runs at 190 as well

Only one high capacity Spal fans with one of those automatic ones. Goes on at 210 and supposed to go off at 195. I think the 195 thermostat may be the issue why it runs so long????

A thermostat only sets the minimum temperature at which your truck will run, so as long as your radiator can keep the engine cool, a 180 thermostat should stop the fans from running all the time. If the radiator isn't big enough, then you might still run at 195 and the 180 thermostat will be doing nothing technically.

Thanks. Will first change the thermostat to 180 first and see what happens. The way it is now it stays at 195 with fan running pretty much all the time.

A lot of modern vehicles turn the fan on at 215 degrees. Yours would work great if the fan came on at 215 instead of 195.

Thanks but Current one comes on at 210 and off at 195. Most say the 195 thermostat is reason fan stays on. Need to replace the upper hose and housing anyway so going to try a 180F thermostat first.

On my LS swaps I turn the fans on at 205 and off at 195. Either with the ECM or with a thermo switch in the radiator. I would go with the 180 stat. That's I use. If you have enough radiator the fan should cycle on and off.
