Re: '72 Cheyenne K10

I finally finished wiring the KC flood light and rear cargo light switches. I made the bracket from an old bent grill support (and smashed two fingers in the process).

Love everything about your truck and the path you have taken to get it where it is now. What all did you have to order to do the twin stick install? Was it just one kit or multiple items needed? I think I want to do the same on the Idaho Edition build. Again great work here!

I bought all the twin stick parts from JBs Custom Fabrication (https://jb-custom-fabrication.myshopify.com/). I think the ones he sells on the website are for 1973 up, so I would maybe email him and ask before ordering. I had to send them back twice to be customized (see previous posts). The shift rails in the transfer case also need to be replaced or modified, so it's gotta come out of the truck to do it.

Jim - thanks for the information I will give them a lookup and ask those questions. The shift rails were the big one for me, was not sure if that was part of kit or needed to add that on. I will be pulling the NP205 anyways to have it gone through so will do the upgrade then. Again thanks for your wealth of knowledge and the willingness to share.

That sounds like fun. Especially with the heat we've been having. How's the smoke in your neck of the woods?

Smoke is not bad in the valley, noticeable up in the foothills. I hope they can stop the fire soon.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10

After my kayak trip last weekend I noticed a pretty big puddle of transmission fluid under my radiator, but I couldn't find the leak until today. Every time I looked it was clean and dry around the fittings. Today I ran the engine and shifted between all the gears in the driveway and it was clearly leaking from the upper transmission line.

I tightened it as much as I could, cleaned it up, and topped off the transmission fluid. I'll check again next time I go for a highway drive to see if the leak is fixed. Fingers crossed!

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10

I had a similar leak but on the transmission end. FYI, it only leaks while driving. So, it will leave a very small puddle when you park it, but will be a continuous drip while driving.
Hopefully it was just loose. In my case it had been previously overtightened and the line was ruined. I bought a new line and replaced it and all is good now.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10

I took my truck on its first real four-wheelin adventure to the High Lakes today. It died on me a few times on steep technical section, but it did fine with the transfer case in low. A boulder in the middle of the trail customized my passenger side rocker a little bit. Fun day. I'll be going back for more.

Hence the name "rocker" I suppose. Bummer, but cool that you are using it.

High Lakes is way up above Paradise. A lot of the trails are better suited for a rock crawler than a full size pickup. The burn scar is from the enormous Dixie Fire this summer. A real shame too because I didn't get to see it before.

Thanks for the info. I've heard of some of the individual lakes but I didn't know it was a OHV area. I may have to check it out sometime.

It looks like you had nice weather. We were in the fog most of the day. Your truck doing what it was built for.

I just picked up this AstroVan Hydroboost for $50. Just have to figure out how to get it installed into my truck. Looks like Captainfab from this site makes an adapter bracket.

That will be nice. I hear good things about hydro boost.. Keep us updated on the progress, I'm curious how it comes together.

Took my truck on a ~450 mile round trip to San Jose this weekend. No problems, but 63mph in the slow lane the whole trip was a first for me. Santa got me a used canoe and patio set.
