What's the coolest/most interesting thing you've found in your truck

A post further down where someone found cash in thier tire made me think about the interesting things I've found in vehicles, so what's the most interesting things you guys have found in your trucks?

Mine would have to be a rusty old 9/16th wrench that had fallen down into the front wheel well. Im sure we have all had those "I wonder where that tool went moments" haha

Re: What's the coolest/most interesting thing you've found in your truck

Now these aren't from old trucks but i build wrecks so lots of bottles the empty wreck causing kind. We took the carpet out of a Prizm once that had a $10 bill in a envelope with a note saying if you have gone this far, you have earned this. Take a break and buy the crew a round of Cokes. Speaking of Coke I had a wreck that was an impound bought from a drug sale, and after I built it powder fell from the dash on a gravel road. I thought it might have been Bondo dust then remembered we didn't have any filler on that job!! Later the [deacon] I sold it to said he was driving down the road window down and two white powdery bags fell out from under the dash. Knowing the history of the truck he just tossed them out the window.

That would be interesting, to find out if that powder was dope or not BUT if the police got involved I could see a lot of hassle (if he was lucky just hassle). Tossing it out the window was a good idea, perhaps the best idea, although I would probably have flushed it down a toilet just to be sure it was destroyed.

Owners manual, protect o plate and the dealer emblem. Turns out the dealer has passed on but his son has a new Chevy dealership now. I'm going to contact him sometime and tell him I have a truck his father sold in 1967.

Re: What's the coolest/most interesting thing you've found in your truck

An 'spare' gas gap, carefully placed between cowl and cowl vent/cover (next to the right windshield wiper shaft/mount).

My Dad picked the truck up new at the assembly plant and noticed it there on the way home with it, he/we left it there until one of us lost the one that came on the tank.

I plan on putting it back as one of the last steps of it's restoration, everybody that knows the truck knows about the cap so it wouldn't be right not to.

We figured somebody was having fun that day (at the assembly plant) because I also later found a radio delete plate (painted the truck's color, not a scratch on it) carefully wedged between the gas tank and it's mounting flange, the way it was positioned, there's no way it would've gotten there unless somebody put it there on purpose.

Re: What's the coolest/most interesting thing you've found in your truck

I bought an old Longhorn in Calgary in 2014 and there was 16.00 of change in the ashtray. A few months later when I picked up my Highlander in South Dakota there was about 9.00 of change in the ashtray and that was really good cause the 9.00 was worth about 10.50 Canadian at the time. I found it strange that 2 trucks from entirely different locales would have the ashtrays filled with change.

I found my build sheet stuck to the wet-when-new paint on the front of the bed. No idea how it got there, and have never heard of another being there. How it survived exposure to the elements for 40 years, even though protected by the cab, I'll never know.

Re: What's the coolest/most interesting thing you've found in your truck

The truck I brought home last weekend had a huge rattling clunk every time I'd close the driver door. Pulled the speaker off the door and fished around in the hole unitil I found a huge cheapo Harbor Freight style rechargeable work light. No idea why it would ever had been in the door to begin with....

Re: What's the coolest/most interesting thing you've found in your truck

I bought a 1972 4x4 longbed with a topper about 20 years ago, and under the seat I found a bulk pack of condoms. Only one was missing, and the receipt was a year old. The PO was married, I wonder if he bought them for a lady friend??

In my latest purchase I found a ton of spent brass, and a decent amount of loaded stuff too. Here's a couple pictures I took:

Re: What's the coolest/most interesting thing you've found in your truck

I bought my truck from CL two years ago and when I removed the inner door panels I found 4 brown rectangular packages all taped up. I had a look inside but all that was there was a green flaky sort of material. I tossed it all in the garage.

I found a receipt from an Arizona police impound yard auction sale, the truck was in there at some point for something.

Just kidding! Nothing crazy in dad's old truck, I assume the ash tray is full of coins from the 1980's and early 1990's, we paid cash for gas back then.

I did find one of those "emergency backup key" hidden boxes on the OEM radiator core support I bought from the parts forum here back in 2013. No key though.

Do you have weapons in all those calibers?

*I see .22 LR, .22 WMR, .223/5.56x45, 7.62x39, and what looks like 9mm Parabellum, .38 SPL and/or .357 Magnum. How did I do?

In 2012 and 2013 you could have sold that ammo for about a tank of gas!

I could shoot all of those calibers but would pull down the center fire stuff and reload using my own recipes. I don't like shooting anything that didn't come from my bench or a factory box.

I also see a couple .22 shorts and possibly some .22 long, .357 for sure touching the 9 mil lead and another 9 mil fmj in the center. Also looks like a 40 S&W in there too.

Yup, a brick of .22 around here a few years ago was $70 or more, there is a fill up of gas or the price of a good diner there back in 2012.

That box of LC Match that Kieth Seymore posted is pretty darn cool too.... Nice Garand ammo.

Not a cool find but kind of odd, last month my son was taking out the seat of a 73 K20 he got and there were 2 large plastic prescription type bottles that had medical marijuana labels on them along with 2 phone bills that were in the $700 range.... to stoned to remember to pay the phone bill I guess

I found two bullet holes in the passenger's floor and through the inner fender. I would love to know the story behind those.
