I do not know what’s in it. I know for sure it’s a 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree, and hasn’t been tampered with because I just put a new starter on it less than a year ago and the one I took off was the original.

I’m sure my mechanic friend will know what to get. He said something about a motor place in Dallas. Anyway, I’ll update. Thanks.

Re: Classic Trucks: Other Makes

Could be a 300. They were available beginning in '65. They are a highly respected truck engine like the GM 292

'65 Flareside and '66 Styleside

Re: Classic Trucks: Other Makes

Maybe I've laid the foundation for this thread by mostly showing stock "Other Makes" and now it's time to trickle in some pizazz

I'll start with Dodges

Re: Classic Trucks: Other Makes

Those Dodge's remind me of my old 69.

I drove it for about a year and sold it to some guy that brought it back knocking about an hour later.

I gave him his money back. But I had, and still have a sneaking suspicion that he took it out and thrashed on it. I was always gentle on the old girl and never had a problem.

But you never know. I sold my Ranger to my friend. I drove that truck for 12 years with no issues. He had nothing but problems with it. I think he thought I ripped him off. But what can I say. I never had a problem and he was using it for work moving appliances (like refrigerators). I think he overloaded it. I can't help it if I sell someone a truck and they beat the crap out of it and it breaks.

Re: Classic Trucks: Other Makes

I sold a '72 K/10 Custom Deluxe To a guy who drove the milk tanker by my house. First funny thing was he left a note with my wife that said "Call Gary Sunday". I waited till Sunday to call and he said it had been several days so he figured I wasn't calling. I said the note said call Sunday. "That's my last name"

So he buys the truck and I agree to follow him home using my tags. There's actually another story out of this but I'll just say I had a dead battery issue with the truck not long before he bought it. I replaced the alternator with another one I had, everything checked out fine. And I told him I had just fixed that. Following him home on a rainy day I noticed his lights seemed dim and his wipers were moving really slow. Next I hear a backfire and he stops rolling, dead in the water, dead battery. He was feeling mighty skeptical about his purchase at that point. "Didn't even get it home before it broke down". I assured him it was just that I hadn't driven it since the repair and I would fix it or pay to have it fixed. Turned out a connector on one of the wires was the culprit

Longbeds, too

While my Dad sold new Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouths for years, their trucks just never did anything for me. Roadrunners and GTXs did!

I wonder why American Motors never built any pickups.

Some history of the makes.

Their '72 design, after same body since '61, sure had shades of the 67-72 GMs in a rather funky nowhere near as beautiful way

I've wondered that myself. I guess technically that you could say that a Jeep Scrambler is an AMC pickup. Kinda sorta.

I always wondered the same about Honda... Toyota and Nissan have been cleaning up in the truck market for years and it's a huge market.

The only thing Honda ever did was that Ridgeline and that lasted about 5 minutes and was gone. It seems odd because they make everything from lawnmowers to cars. But never any real trucks that I know of.

I found a note to my wife that said. When do you want me to come over? Call me.
It was signed "Steve Handles'.

So I confront her and ask who the hell is this Steve Handles guy?

She rolled her eyes and told me. His name isn't Steve Handles. He's the guy from Lowes that's going to install the handles on the new kitchen cabinets.

Oops....My mistake.

How about an Oldsmobile truck.

^^^

American Motors built Jeep J-series trucks. Rambler never made trucks, except some El Camino type thing... or was that a prototype? That was called the Cowboy. It had a Gremlin/hornet front end. Also the downsized one, Comanche, looked like the downsized Cherokee. I don't have any 2wd pictures of any of those

I'm tired of looking at Dodges. How about some Fargos?
