Dash Question ?

My 72 has a 3 hole dash now. I'm keeping the speedometer and gas gauge
Adding Oil,Temp,Volt and a clock. Can I use another stock dash with the 4 holes on the bottom of the dash Bezel ? Will the 2 1/16 gauges fit or set in the dash hole with little or no major modifications ? Right now I have a 3 hole panel with gauges on the bottom of the dash. Not worried about the top gauges, Turn signals and any mods I have to do there.

Re: Dash Question ?

You can replace your existing gauge cluster with a stock 7-hole cluster. You would have to make some modifications to the wiring harnesses though to get the gauges working correctly. You would also need to replace the temperature sender on the engine with one that is meant for a gauge. Your current oil pressure switch would need to be replaced with a copper tube to the oil pressure gauge (LockDoc sells a kit). See the following thread for instructions on modifying the wiring harnesses:

Basically you've got to rearrange the wires on the gauge cluster connector, remove some warning light connections from the ignition switch and bulkhead connector, and you have to add two wires to the headlight harness for the battery gauge.
