Shaun...don't get your hopes up.....I'm a long way from being close to done.....It may end up as scrap metal....
If I wasn't so deep into the repair and a pile of new sheet metal..I would probably have just bought a complete repro cab...
But hey...where's the "fun in that"....pretty sure I'll have plenty to do this winter.
My finisher/painter is almost ready to start on it....I'll send the bed first...it's ready for finishing and paint...

BTW did you get the little bracket in the mail?

You're right about the fun, sometimes it's a pain in the tookus, but when you beat that obstacle it is so satisfying.

I did get the bracket, thanks a million! I sent you a PM letting you know. I greatly appreciate you sending that out!

Re: '67 stepside project

My paint guy is ready....the cab isn't ready yet so the bed is going first....A few finishing touches fitting the custom tail lights last night and I'll be taking it tomorrow...

I couldn't find a tail light idea that I really liked so I made my own design... machined some housings from aluminum....

LED lights from Amazon (China) a stop, turn, and back up LED all in one...

I wanted to hide the wires down thru the stake side....

they will get painted the body color with the bowtie polished...it also serves as a boss to tighten down in the housing....

I also put an o-ring in the front to seal out any moisture...

the modified light assembly pushes in from the back and cap threads in

Can you actually get one from somewhere? I'm wondering because I'm actually looking at replacing the cab on mine, which has a caved in rear corner and a lovely hole that was drilled through the roof from the inside, pulling up material from around it. I'd be tempted to get the parts available from LMC to basically replace the entire roof and back of the cab, and a headliner, but I have no idea on how to tackle that, and my welding skills are basically non-existent. I've been looking around for a good cab, but basically all of them are going to need cab corners and rockers at the very least. Plus like 90% of them have a hole through the roof for an antenna. So, hey, if I could get a small back window repro cab, that would be awesome.

I called LMC they have a manufacturer that builds new cabs…all new metal with doors fitted and gapped…12 large plus freight
they had one in stock…I came close to ordering it…but I’m pretty deep in mine.

I’m not a body man by trade…but I can do welding and fab and have all the tools....
I just bought a spot welder and some copper rod for some extensions…a lot of my repairs will be 3M panel bonded and spot welded in place.

I also have a good body man/finisher/painter….took the bed to him today…he’s ready to get going…

I’m replacing the dash, the inner and outer roof skins, front header panel, both upper outer roof panels , drip rails, complete rear panel, inner and outer rockers both sides, lower A pillar both sides, and a few more pieces, this cab will be good for 50 more years…
stay tuned it’s about to get real....
upper windshield donor cuts….

Agreed, you're into it now, plus you will feel good about fixing the cab yourself,
thanks for sharing .

Re: '67 stepside project

Spent the afternoon on Saturday media blasting the underside of the cab...
It had been gooped over with some kind of undercoating...
I used a propane torch and scraper to get a lot of it off first...

Floor is pretty solid except the rocker area...sprayed some rattle can primer for now because I still have lots of metal work to do...ultimately I will epoxy prime the entire cab.

Also received the new rear cab panel....finally got the small window one I needed, but it has the cargo light cut out...really didn't want that.

I'm trying to decide if I want to cover it up or put some kind of LED 3rd brake light/cargo light combo?

Re: '67 stepside project

Are you going to replace the complete rear cab or take cuts from it? If you are taking cuts let me know, I'm interested in some of the lower panel. Or if your old one is okay in the areas I need that would work too.

Great work so far, Rg

No problem, the area I have a problem with is a strange area I have never seen trucks rust at. I'll get a pic of it and I would bet you have a good piece of that area.

I'm currently working on the inner roof and front header pieces above the windshield, so it will be a few days before I remove the rear panel...
I will see if I can salvage what you need when you post a picture

Re: '67 stepside project

Spent some time this weekend.... (Thankful).... to start welding in the repair pieces.
the upper windshield corners are tacked in and I started on the driver side inner A pillar...I decided to replace it all the way down to where it goes under the end of the dash...
Inner roof panel will fit fine with a little massaging..all the roof structure is starting to fall (literally) into place...
I'll bolt the cab back on the frame for final fit and weld....
