Door Sill Photos

Does anyone with factory paint, and not rusted out, have a good close photo of their door sill? I think that a truck I might want to go look at (that is a while away) has been repainted but I can't tell. My last truck was too rotted away to have a good photo.

yes! So this is the photo that I was sent, obviously there is a little rust bubbling up, but to me it looks like it has been repainted. Now that I even look closer it looks like there is overspray on the door seal...

Have the person send you a picture of the SPID sticker if it's still on the back of the glovebox door. That will at least tell you the original color but I would guess based on the picture that it has been repainted.

Re: Door Sill Photos

agreed. the seal on the inside of the jamb looks like it's loaded with overspray, as well as the jamb. The paint itself looks like a respray too. The gloss, depth of the paint, and the chipping that you see all wreaks of repaint.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but if it's being promoted as original paint, they're either sadly mistaken or trying to pull one over on someone.

Re: Door Sill Photos

So the SPID shows White Ochre White Ochre, so the color does at least match. The other thing is that the motor was replaced from a 400 to a 454 at some point and the 454 has a tick. The owner thinks its a cam but could be a lifter....
