Re: rack and pinion

I used No Limit's conversion kit, but had to swap to an aftermarket lower A-Arm as the stock bushing is too big and does not allow the rack to sit in the correct location.

With that said, it was a great upgrade. Steering was more precise and with the increased cast the new arms provided, it was much nicer to drive.

Re: rack and pinion

This is something I've considered trying to do. The conversion kits are rather expensive (~$1k) and I wonder how hard it would be to fab up some brackets to run a rack off a newer truck or some other vehicle.

This is true about their web site. BUT, I installed it on an '82. I just had to swap lower control arms to an aftermarket set that used a smaller diameter pivot bushing where is mounts to the cross member. Arms from CPP, Ride Tech, Porter Built (I used PB's forward arms to increase caster) will all work well with No Limits rack conversion. Only other change I had to do was with the support bearing for the steering shaft. Look through my Sunburn thread in my signature for pictures...Post #258, #266, #289, #291, #294, #298
