72 A/C bracket/compressor questions

Need some advice on a Suburban.
72 K20 with front and rear A/C.
New 350 engine with Edelbrock intake so there now is no threaded hole to mount the stock bracket and compressor.
1. Is there a bracket out there that will allow me to use the stock compressor?
2. Should I just be going to a new more efficient compressor, and if so, which compressor and bracket?

Vintage Air makes a nice bracket that will solve your problem. As for compressors I'd visit some of the mobile A/C forums as it always seem there's a compressor-of-the-year. Maybe ackits.com

Thanks for the information. Vintage Air referred me to Dealer Automotive Services in MN who sent me to Original Air in FL. Still looks like I'm going to have to fab something up, but these are all good sources for parts.

Hey Bill, sorry I didn't respond in the Suburban area. I've seen people not use the large over the valve cover bracket and instead just rely on the two lower compressor mounting bolts and a adjustment arm that goes the water pump.

There's a couple pics of in this thread of Sanden brackets. If you go the Sanden route just make sure you buy a compressor with enough displacement. The ones sold through the hotrod shops are usually the small displacement compressor and not appropriate for a Suburban with front and rear AC

Those front and rear brackets are substantial enough to hold it good as long as the bolts are tight.
