Question - 67 GMC - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

So, this truck has come up for sale less than 20 minutes from my house and if it's not gone by the weekend I may go take a look at it.

67 GMC long wheel base, six cylinder is all I have at this point. But, from this photo I have to ask these questions:

1. Does this bed look extra long between cab and rear wheel?
2. Is the rear wheel/tire not setting right in the wheel opening?

Could it just be the photo?

67 beds are unique.

The longbeds have the point in the wheel well which did change for later years to the curve.

If it was a longer bed you would see the seam at the front of the bed, but no Longhorns in 67.

Check the frame for damage and see what is up with the rear wheel.

EDIT: After looking at some other 67's it looks normal for the rear wheel.

Possible body swap? Even worse, that might be a Ford under there. Thats a late eighties Ford wheel cover.

Could just be a bad picture, take a look!

Funny Looking at my 68 gmc it has a 67 box on it the wheel sits more centered then this 67.
The 67 I striped for parts to get the box in the 90s. I do not remember how the rear wheel looked in the wheel housing

Body looks good shape price is right I would buy it
rear end looks leaf sprung I would convert to truck arm and coils for a nicer ride

Looks like it may have leaf springs in the rear. Maybe the leafs are installed backwards. The perch mounts are offset on the leaf springs but I am not sure if installing them backward would move the wheels forward or back. Check that frame closely and take a look at the driveshaft to see if the slip joint and trans yoke look squished together.

All '67 GMC pickups should have rear leaf springs, unless they are Oshawa built Canadian models. If this truck has leaf springs, what may have happened here is the spring bolt may be broken. The is the vertical bolt that holds the leafs together and the head locates the axle. It protrudes down into a hole in the axle spring pad, the head can shear off and allow the axle to slide forward. Easy fix. Looks like it might be a pretty decent truck otherwise.

Only thing I see wrong with that truck is the FORD hubcap on the front wheel!
