TH350 interchangable crossmember for 68' C10?

Need a lil direction, I bought a 68' C10 Fleetside Roller and now have the engine and trans (383 and TH350) at least halfway in. Had a bit of trouble with the engine towers being wrong and have finally found the correct sbc towers but now have to find a trans crossmember that will work correctly with the TH350. The truck was originally a 3 on the tree and due to the towers that were in it I assume an inline 6. What year C10's do I look for that may have an interchangeable trans crossmember? Any help or advice on this would be most appreciated as its my first build and need all the expertise I can get.

Re: TH350 interchangable crossmember for 68' C10?

No expert here, but I pulled out a 250 IL-6 with 3 OTT and put in a SBC with a short tail turbo350.

Used the original 6 cyl. frame brackets, (towers?) removed the original riveted crossmember and got a turbo400 trans. crossmember out of a '68 Surban from a wreaking yard, which bolted right up and even allowed me to use the original drive shaft without any length adjustments.

I also run a GM HEI and it does sit pretty close to the firewall, but I don't plan on putting a suitcase behind it anyway, and having the engine sitting back that far does help with weight transfer upon acceleration.

Re: TH350 interchangable crossmember for 68' C10?

I always put my luggage between the engine and firewall so I really need the room. When I say close I mean I can't even put a finger between them, my middle finger in this instance for that suitcase reference lol. l will continue to try to find donors in the same year range but here in Ga havent been too lucky. I just happened to find a C30 in the very back of one covered in foliage to pull the sbc frame mounts off of. Anyway fellas I really appreciate the feedback. Have a good one.
