Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build

Thanks Guys! A little more done today. I was first a little hesitant to do these, but actually they're pretty darn easy. I did watch a tutorial video first, which did make it easier as well.

Rebuilt the wing windows!

That is gorgeous !!!!!!!! Wish I had one. All the blazers in Tennessee are very rusty. Hard to find one in that shape. Love it

Man....we can't wait to get back to Tennessee for our next visit. We have a daughter that lives in Alabama, so we always fly into Nashville. Would love to find a place out there, but we still have ties here too.

Isn't there a big Chevy show in Pigeon Forge?

I watched a u-tube video by Jerry Kassis. Google search "Vent window restoration 1967-72 Chevy Pickup".

It's a long video, but gives you some great tips. It makes it very easy, and it really wasn't too hard at all to complete the task.

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build

Pretty much complete now.

Of course we all know it's never truly done. I do want to install my gear vendor and attempt to make that work.

For now though, I will be repairing the top now, and get it back on the Jimmy.

I will be looking for recommendations on top repairs. Hopefully I'll find something in the search category.

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build

Out of sequence, but I did want to show the door panels.

The foam around the edge is the original that I took off. I just had to utilize contact cement to put it back on.

The white panel foam was found underneath of the old carpeting that I removed.

Plus a few pics of the underside of the original panels & the arm rest.

The panels were in such good shape, I chose not to replace them with reproduction. There just comes a point of when to stop! I'll live with the scratched wood grain. I would like to find an original for the passenger side, as the wood grain is worn through in a few places.

Great job Pat! Cup holder looks slick. Thanks for the build thread. Can I have the step side?

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build

Really nice work.
I have the Chevy twin to this K5 in storage. White / Blue CST.
You're motivating me to get it out of storage and get to work on it when I return to San Diego.

LOL! The step side will be coming up soon. I need to finish the '63 Corvette I'm doing, then the step side will be undergoing a full restoration.

Not many options for cup holders for these old trucks, so I just made something up. Actually, it works pretty darn good.

I bought this about 10 years ago from the original owner in Arizona. I got it running and driving real good, now it's time for the cosmetics. I will get to it when I retire next summer.

Wow! That is cool! I looked at the SPID sheet and compared it to mine. Almost identical!

Looks pretty darn good just the way it is!
