Question about clutch break in

The clutch went out on my 1968 C10, 327 w/ 3 speed transmission. Had a local shop put a new clutch kit in.

Curious to know if there is a clutch break in period or procedure?

I can't recall doing anything before to break a clutch in before. Last clutch was brand new in March 2017 when I had my 327 rebuilt and reinstalled. I went easy on the motor as part of the break in. Old clutch was a HD Borg & Beck style and one of the fingers cracked causing issues with the clutch not wanting to release properly.

Re: Question about clutch break in

I'm no expert, I'm only speaking from a lifetime total of 4 clutch jobs.

However in my experience there is no "break-in" procedure. Although, you absolutely should fine tune its adjustment if necessary.

Re: Question about clutch break in

Make sure it’s adjusted properly if your still on the mechanical linkage, other than that just drive it.
